Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta was unanimously chosen on 20 July 2018 by his peers, Ministers of Finance, Planning or Economic Development from ACBF Member States, to chair the Board of Governors of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF).
Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, born Kenneth Nana Yaw Kuntunkununku Ofori-Atta is a Ghanaian Economist and an Investment Banker. He is co-founder of Databank Ghana. He is the current Minister of Finance of Ghana, appointed by President Akufo-Addo on 10 January 2017. Hon. Ofori-Atta received basic education at Achimota School in Ghana, completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Columbia University in 1984 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) at the Yale University School of Management in 1988.
Prior to co-founding Databank in 1990, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and Salomon Brothers on Wall Street in New York City. He has extensive expertise in areas such as Retail Banking, Private Equity, Micro finance, Insurance, Pharmaceuticals and Real Estate.
Hon. Ofori-Atta was the first African to be honored as a Donaldson Fellow at Yale University in 2010, a John Jay Fellow at Columbia University in 2011 and a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. He is a Co-Founder of the Aspen African Leadership Initiative.
Hon. Ofori-Atta has been Chairman and Board member of the following corporations: Family Ventures and Offices in Ghana; Chairman of Trust Bank Ltd in The Gambia; International Bank of Liberia, Bank of Kigali in Rwanda, Enterprise Life in Ghana, and pan-African Databank AgriFund for SME Agribusiness with investments in Madagascar, Cameroun, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Ethiopia.
He is a married father of four children.
