Indymedia meeting for new volunteers Monday 28th October at Hydra Bookshop 7pm After a good turnout at last weeks meeting. Indymedia is meeting new potential volunteers who are interested in getting involved. We are looking to fill the following roles:

Film Nights:

To programme and promote monthly film/talk nights in conjunction with Bristol radical film festival that show the films that would not be seen and to provide a space to discuss the issues of the day.

� To programme nights � To publicise the nights � To be responsible for running the film nights at the Cube (this is not a hard task, Cube and Bristol Radical Film Festival help out)

Tech:

Aim: To manage the technical side of the new website, making sure it runs smoothly and to develop new website structures, website is based on wordpress.

� To keep website updated and working. � To implement new developments on the site. � To ensure website is backed up.

Curation role:

Aim: To create keep Indymedia full of interesting news and content and to promote exciting events and groups based in Bristol.

� To curate content for the site. � To promote blog posts to feature section � To promote events from the calendar to the feature section � To promote a group of the week to get involved in � To produce opinion pieces or curate articles on relevant topics � Manage social media presences (much of this can be automated), i.e. twitter and facebook (if we agree of using facebook) � To potentially manage comments and open publishing � Act as a contact point for enquiries to the site and respond accordingly � Would need to understand wordpress and how to use it on a basic level, but we can easily train people to do this

Outreach:

Aim: To promote Indymedia and create a larger readership and increase use of the site to share news.

� To publicise Indymedia to the wider community � To increase the usage of Indymedia by local progressive groups � To increase viewership � To promote a sustainer/membership scheme on Indymedia � To fundraise for Indymedia / Events etc.

Citizen Journalism:

To report on the news happening locally that is not being talked about. As there is a new group setup in Bristol called the Bristol Cable looking at the same thing there will be a discussion on whether people should get involved in that instead, hopefully some members from Bristol Cable will be at the meeting to tell us what they are doing. If not we have met with them

Get the Frack Out of Somerset� is a documentary, produced by independent film maker Marco Jackson in collaboration with local campaign coalition, Frack Free Somerset. The film looks at the potential impact of fracking and coal bed methane extraction in Somerset, and the social, health and environmental consequences associated with these methods of unconventional gas drilling. With the majority of Somerset covered by licenses sold my the Government for drilling, it sets the scene for community resistance to defend local villages from becoming gasfields. Running time 25 minutes.

Film will be followed by Q&A with film makers and Frack Free Somerset.
