A Fairy Tale

The sun had set in it's wondrous glory....

*clouds were painted with pink edges*

The girls were tucked into their beds

and were dreaming the sweet dreams of children.

....all was peaceful~~but for me sleep did not come....

I arose and tiptoed quietly down the stairs so no one was awakened.

I peered out the window where the moon rays were softly shining on the trees.

****

A different glow caught my eye...as if fireflies were lighting the night.....

~but fireflies had long gone~

The darkness made it hard to focus

Where were these little lights going?

I finally traced their destination....
the single toadstool that was growing alone in the midst of the lawn.

We had found it earlier that day while we were trying to
fly our little butterfly kites.

The tiny lights settled gracefully down to the mushroom and a new glow began...

...this time from the toadstool itself.....

The entire mushroom began blooming in colors brilliant and lovely
as the little fairies danced under the moonlight.

{It seemed so hard to tell...had it lasted for only a few seconds...
or for an eternity?}

then the lights were gone and the grass grew dim

and I awoke with my head on the pillow

which was lightly covered with a glittery dust...

******
The girls and I were thrilled to find this lone toadstool in the yard yesterday....
We felt as if we found a treasure

It inspired me to spin a little tale about it and play with the photos I had taken of it

There is loveliness everywhere if you are careful in your search

have a most lovely weekend

Wood Nymphs and Dryads and Forest Fairy Friends

"Look, do you see that poem?" she said suddenly, pointing.

"Where? " Jane and Diana stared, as if expecting to see Runic rhymes on the birch trees.

"There...down in the brook...that old green, mossy log with the water flowing over it in those smooth ripples that look as if they'd been combed, and that single shaft of sunshine falling right athwart it, far down into the pool. Oh, it's the most beautiful poem I ever saw"

"I should rather call it a picture," said Jane. "A poem is lines and verses."

"Oh dear me, no." Anne shook her head with its fluffy wild cherry coronal positively. "The lines and verses are only the outward garments of the poem and are no more really it than your ruffles and flounces are you, Jane. The real poem is the soul within them...and that beautiful bit is the soul of an unwritten poem. It is not every day one sees a soul...even of a poem."

We finally had our forest play date and it was perfectly delightful.
The little wood nymphs came out to play...

....fluttering and whisking about....
...and peering into places where their forest friends may be hiding...

The previous lines are from the book 'Anne of Avonlea'
If you have never read these wonderful books by L.M. Montgomery...
you should hasten to do so.

Pink Summer Surprise

When we got back from our weekend trip...surprise!
look what was waiting for us in the garden.

We ran out to play in the surprise lilies and get some fun summer shots.

It started out all well and good...

...A couple little fairies in the garden.

very sweet

UNTIL.... one little fairy started poking the lilies at her
fairy momma...

and then all giggles broke loose

ah well....it was fun anyway.

The last lily I looked at before going in had this little spider in it.
Not usually a fan of spiders {yeck} but this one kind of looked like
a pearl hiding in the flower.

Have a lovely day!
