Got some life going on here...

Sunday right after lunch the fridge quit running...

called the repairman Monday morning...

it's toast...

but the service guy had one, very clean, almost identical to what we had, and cheap...

$200 for a used one isn't bad...

that was for the fridge and the delivery later that evening and hauling the old one off...

we jumped on it...

saved us a ton...

thankfully, we didn't have a lot in the fridge and crammed the frozen food in the little freezer we added to the house earlier this year...

very little loss, and probably things that needed tossed anyway...

DH is having shoulder problems, too...

he saw the dr, got the steroid shot...

that worked for about 10 days...

its getting worse again, so now he gets and xray and starts therapy next Thursday...

he has bursitis in his hips and he has all the symptoms for the shoulder...

hope that's what it is because one shot will fix it...

we don't want it to be the rotator cuff...

or surgery...

so keep him in your prayers...

we need all the help we can get...

it's been awhile since I last posted...

things get in the way sometimes...

and my sweet friend Susie, I am so sorry you lost Ted...

we are all still here...

I have lost major ground in the last two years since DH retired...

but he has been here every day helping me get through it...

I haven't taken a photo in a long, long time...

its time I did that again, too...

we are gearing up for the toy drive again...

and as I have decreased, more have come into the group to take my place...

a true blessing...

I can still do the planning, organizing and getting it all pulled together...

but there are those who have really stepped up and took over the physical part for me...

amazing people...

soon, the whole thing will be handed over to a whole new younger bunch...

as it should be...

We are asking our children to carry loads that are way too heavy for them. They should not be forced, as children, to see and feel the world through the lens of adults. Innocence is worth protecting and worth fighting for. We need to do our part as teachers, parents and caregivers to carry certain things for them until they are old enough to bear the load.

I think he was a pretty fine father...

innocence is worth fighting for...

Happy 4th!

well, we did get a smidgen of rain...

and it cools off from time to time...

85 today, so not so bad but heating up again soon...

no plans for this weekend...

our town did their fireworks and festival last weekend...

the old man is mowing part of the yard now...

it's been 4 weeks since that part was mowed, but its not brown like the neighbors' yards are...

it wasn't that tall, either...

got blooms on the tomatoes and green beans...

they went in a bit late this year...

did my bloodwork Friday morning...

all the vitals were spot on...

I should hear Monday or Tuesday on the lab work...

other than that, its been pretty boring around here...

have a safe and happy 4th!

 

and the heat wave continues...

what a way to start summer...

praying for those who might not have ac...

dh goes out in the evening and waters...

not watering everything every night...

he's got a rotation planned...

it's been 10 days since we mowed last...

it's just not growing...

we need cooler temps and rain...

so Ida, send some this way, please!

dh did a meat haul yesterday, so we will be putting that in the freezer today...

2 big family packs of ground beef to cook and cool and bag...

we started this a couple years ago...

we cook it down, drain and bag it for the freezer...

saves so much time when making suppers!

we set it down the night before we need it and then just dump it in whatever you are making...

I do that with cooked whole chickens, too...

just de-bone and then make up portion bags for noodles or soup...

got some broccoli to steam and a watermelon to cut up...

just some inside play time...

it's not bad cooking things in the ac...

we have young squirrels and baby bunnies in the yard...

got water out for them and the birds...

keeping the feeders full...

my kids taught me how to do that...

need a nap...

summer can go away...

this is august weather...

I don't want to see august...

dew point is 79...

you stick your nose out and its drippin'...

good thing I'm not young and stupid and running around out there...

we have had such a weird spring and now it looks like summer is whacked as well...

10 day forcast shows no relief...

this didn't used to be that bad to take...

I hung out alone...

key word, alone...

now there's 4 cats, 2 dogs and this retired old guy...

I can't run away from home...

because it's too hot...

better take a nap before I get in trouble...
