MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. Russian servicemen have retaliated against Kiev's attack on the Rostov Region by launching a strike on the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) control center, the Luch design bureau, and a Patriot SAM position, all targets were hit, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
TASS has compiled the main information about the retaliatory strike.
Defense Ministry statement
- The Russian military retaliated against Kiev's attack on the Rostov Region by launching a group strike with long-range precision weapons on the Ukrainian Security Service control point, the Kiev-based Luch design bureau, which carries out the design and production of Neptune missile systems and Olkha land-based cruise missiles, as well as the position of a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.
- According to the ministry, the goals of the strike were achieved and all facilities were hit.
Consequences of strike
- An air alert was declared throughout the territory of Ukraine in the morning.
- It was reported about a series of powerful explosions in Kiev, followed by a strong fire.
- Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported the fires in Solomensky and Shevchenkovsky districts. According to him, a heating main was damaged.
- After the explosions in the Ukrainian capital, a fire has been reported in the area of the Artyom military factory, eyewitnesses told TASS. The plant is known for producing air-to-air missiles, as well as equipment for aircraft.
- Explosions were also reported in Kiev-controlled Kherson.
Ukrainian attack on Rostov Region
- On December 18, Ukraine launched a missile strike against the Kamensky Combine in the Rostov Region using six US-made ATACMS missiles and four Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
- Russian servicemen shot down all of the ATACMS missiles as well as three of the four Storm Shadow missiles. The other one was deflected from the target.
- A facility was damaged.
