PART 4
"THE HEIST ON THE HALCYON"
The ''Halcyon'' has been assailed by the notorious pirate Crimson Jack, who seeks to
capture a Resistance spy on board for a lucrative First Order bounty. But the heroic
Captain Keevan and Cruise Director Lenka Mok may have a trick or two up their
sleeves. Meanwhile, amid all the terror, logistics droid D3-O9 is distracting a young
passenger with tales from throughout the legendary ship's long history.

In 34 ABY, the Halcyon begins to suffer heavy damage from the solar storm, so Captain Keevan is forced to bring the ship out of it even with the risk of the pirates waiting for them on the other side. Meanwhile, Shorr Komrin, the Resistance spy that the pirates are after, decides to give himself up so that everyone else on the ship has a chance, and he recalls both Padmé and her daughter Leia Organa who have taught him to stand up for what’s right. When Shorr’s granddaughter Cimina questions why he has to be the one to give the sacrifice, Shorr explains that it is the only way her children and grandchildren can have the future that he’d hoped for them. Shorr hands her a pendant to remind her of the galaxy that they are fighting for, and with this he leaves Cimina and boards an escape pod. As the Halcyon exits the solar storm, it is met by the pirate ship of Crimson Jack, who warns them that they will prepare to be boarded or die, and so Cimina asks D3-O9 for a story where the good people outthink the bad and triumph over impossible odds.

Flashing back to the age of the Empire where it commandeered the ship during the Galactic Civil War, Maz Kanata is brought aboard the Halcyon as per General Kardan’s request. Kardan was a collector of spoils of war; ancient relics and priceless treasures taken from the planets that his forces invaded, however he saw it as liberation from the heathens in the name of the Empire. Some of these items included a A Kalikori totem from an ancient clan on Ryloth, the oldest known collection of statues of the four sages of Dwartii, a rare vase from the Kitel Phard Dynasty, and the box that he carried them in war hewn from a Wroshyr tree on Kashyyyk thousands of years ago. All of his acquisitions were kept discreet from the rest of the Empire, and they were all kept aboard the Halcyon behind thick walls of Beskar. Maz meets with General Kardan on the bridge, and she presents the Crown Jewels of Alderaan to sell to him. Its authenticity is tested and verified, and Maz is paid 80,000 Imperial Credits due to their value as they are one of a kind because of Alderaan’s destruction. D3-O9 narrates that while the Imperials have complete control of the above decks of the Halcyon, the lower levels were entirely a different matter where pirates and smugglers such as Hondo Ohnaka and Lando Calrissian play Sabacc.

General Kardan is informed by a guard that Hondo Ohnaka, a pirate with an extensive criminal record, has been spotted aboard the ship. Kardan urgently sends out stormtroopers to capture Ohanaka while he and Maz head to his vault to lock up the Crown Jewels of Alderaan. When Kardan tosses the treasure inside and questions how Hondo could possibly get his hands on them, Maz backs him up by mentioning the cameras that he has inside, and this prompts the General to take a look at the cameras just in case. To Kardan’s horror, Hondo is already inside the vault and reported heading to the engineering room, so orders the vault to be opened back up which has a three minute lock reset time. Stormtroopers are sent after the fleeing Hondo, and as they chase him through the engineering room, he slows them down through multiple tactics and claims that he is no longer a pirate but rather a legitimate businessman. Eventually, Hondo is seemingly cornered and tackled off a ledge, but this plays right into Hondo’s hands as the stormtrooper falls into electrical tech while Hondo latches onto the platform and hangs on from underneath. Back at the vault, the doors finally unseal once more and General Kardan is confused as all of his treasures still remain in the vault. A guard then informs him that Hondo has seemingly plunged to his death or escaped, so Kardan orders for his shuttle to be prepped and has a guard start collecting his items to be brought to the shuttle. After the guard fills up the Wroshyr tree box full of treasure, he hits the General in the face with it, knocking him out. The guard, who is secretly Lando Calrissian, tosses the box at two stormtroopers and guns them down.

Lando takes the box and meets up with Maz and Hondo in a private room, but once Maz opens up the box full of treasure, she dumps all of the box’s contents and explains that they’ll each receive 40,000 Imperial Credits and they’ll place an anonymous tip to the General’s underling that the relics are aboard the Halcyon. When Lando questions what was in it for her, she explains that the Wroshyr box was given to her by someone special a long time ago, and the General will be too distracted to give them enough time to sneak off the ship at the next port. Hondo brings up the Crown Jewels, but Maz reveals that they aren’t the real ones as she got the gemstones from Alderaan centuries ago but the necklace is fake, and the real ones were probably wiped out during the planet’s destruction by the Death Star. As the group prepares drinks, Lando explains that it wasn’t about the credits for him as he’s now an administrator, and just wanted one last adventure before a life of management.

Back in the present, D3-O9 tells Cimina that the three were able to escape the Halcyon undetected and tipped the Imperial Security Bureau about Kardan’s secrets. Just then, Crimson Jack and his pirates board the ship and hold the passengers at blasterpoint, and Crimson Jack heads to the bridge to greet Captain Keevan. As he demands for the Resistance spy, one of his pirates informs him that an escape pod has jettisoned from the Halcyon, and its passenger Shorr contacts him and gives himself up.
