Personal Belongings and Valuables

Personal care items such as contact lenses, eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures can be stored in your bedside stand when not in use. Before storing items in your bedside stand, please ask staff members for a labeled container to place these items in. Please do not put them on your bed or food tray to help prevent them from being lost or damaged. Leave valuables like jewelry or cash at home, or give them to a trusted relative or friend to watch over. Saint Agnes Medical Center is not responsible for replacing personal belongings. We do maintain a safe and will secure your small items upon request.

Communication With Your Nurse

These best practices allow nurses to anticipate your needs and actively monitor your well-being so you and your loved ones know you’re in the best hands possible.

  • Bedside Handover: At approximately 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., when one nurse is preparing to leave and the other is beginning his/her shift, they will come to your bedside to discuss your healthcare needs and anything pertinent to your condition. Our goal is to include you in the conversation so you can be more actively involved in your plan of care.
  • Purposeful Hourly Rounding: To ensure that your needs are being met in a timely manner, we will regularly visit or “round” on you every hour during the day (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and every two hours at night (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.). While rounding on you, we will monitor your comfort and pain, help you move and change position, or assist you to the bathroom.
