Every year a group in my hometown puts on a Home Kitchen Tour as a fund raiser for their various projects.
My friend, Kristin, and I have gone a couple of times and it's always a lot of fun.
While it is promoted as a kitchen tour sometimes you are able see other parts of the homes. Last year I saw something in the garage of one of the homes that I just knew AD would love to have. He should have gone with me.
I told him about the new fangled contraption I'd seen and then we did some research online. AD talked to our contractor to see if he knew anything about the contraption. Dan said that one of his customers had recently decided to add one to their new home and it was a first for him too.
When we went to the Home & Garden Show a couple of weekends ago there was a company that had them on display. AD talked to the salesman about it and we decided to have one put in.
This is our garage (and there's Mikey's dog house sitting by the door.)
The workmen arrived about 1:10 Friday afternoon and set up to do the work.
They had to go into the attic too.
Can you tell what it is?
Have you ever seen one?
It's like an elevator (NO RIDERS ALLOWED) that lifts various items up into the attic for storage.
This is the smaller model and can lift 200 pounds according to the paperwork but the salesman (who was also one of the installers) said it really can hold a little more weight than that.
AD and I wish we'd had one of these years ago!
The installation only took about 3 hours or so.
This is what the garage ceiling looks like now.
Here's a view from inside the attic.
And another view so you can see the railing they installed by the attic ladder. The railing is an option that's available but they gave it to us since we bought the lift during the Home & Garden Show.
We think it's just about one of the handiest tools we've bought in awhile.
Now we can move some of my things into the attic that have been stored in AD's shop. He's really gonna love having more room in his shop for his guy stuff.
