I am a twenty-five year old graduate student in Chemistry at Illinois State University studying halogen-halogen non-covalent interactions and the surface-mediated self-assembly of aryl halides into monolayers. My published research at time of writing regards work on the development of an iridium-promoted catalytic conversion of alkyl epoxides to anti-Markovnikov alcohols with Margaret Scheuermann at Western Washington University. I am also an artist in various media and a writer in creative non-fiction and poetry, particularly as a contributor for the independent magazine White Noise Zine. I have a passion for recreational mathematics and try to weave mathematics into all of my work, both scientific and artistic.
