The author graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (A. B. U.) Zaria, Nigeria (1983) with a first class honours degree in mathematics where he also obtained an M. Sc. degree (1987). He then proceeded to the University of St Andrews, Scotland, U. K., where he obtained a Ph. D. degree (1992). Between 1993 and 1997 he was at the A. B.U., Zaria, University of Abuja (Nigeria), University of St Andrews and University of Essex; King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (1997 - 2007); Sultan Qaboos University, Oman (2007 - 2015); Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi, U. A. E (2014 - 2017); Khalifa University of Science and Technology (2017-date). The author is a pure mathematician (algebraist) but has interests in combinatorics, recreational mathematics: magic squares, magic cubes, e.t.c.
