Mermazing with Daria

Hi Dears : )

Daria here. For today's post, I am playing with our Mermazing Stamp set and dies. I like that this set could be both whimsical and playful. So, I have decided to give it some love.

I just recently got a new jar of texture paste and was really happy it arrived in time for this project. Had this background in mind for a while. The technique is by Laura Bassen from OnlineCardClasses :)

I took a piece of heavyweight cardstock and put some texture paste with a help of palette knife... I tried to shaped it as some ocean waves...

Once it dried, I colored my waves with distress inks using ink applicator tool... Ink reveals all the dimension of the background.

I used the same inks applicator tool to color a mermaid. But this time, I cut lots of different masks for different parts of her body.

Isn't she adorable and unique? Elena's design is simply mermazing :) Love this stamp set.

Hope you liked it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you soon
xoxo,
Daria

Distress Crayons + Emboss Resist

Hi Friends! It's Nina-Marie here with you today, sharing a card featuring one of my favorite Winter/Christmas stamp sets from Neat and Tangled; Winter Wishes. I've also used the new Doily Tag die that was released this month as part of our Birthday celebration release!

The adorable little snowy scene in this set just totally captures my heart and I have used this many times in the past because I love it so much. Today I wanted to use it with my Tim Holtz Distress Crayons to create an emboss resist.

The Distress Crayons from Tim Holtz are a newer product on the market and while I've had them ever since they were released earlier this year, I'm still exploring new ways to use them in my crafting... experimenting is one of the joys in card making! I love going crazy in my studio and trying out new ways to use a medium... sometimes it is a complete flop and then there are those times when it turns out even better than you had hoped. :)

To see how I created this card, along with some tips and tricks on using the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, be sure to check out the video below!

Scandinavian Prints with Suzy Plantamura

Hello! It’s Suzy back today with the last of my August guest blog posts! Today I will be showcasing the beautiful floral set called Scandinavian Prints. I’ve done another “one stamp, five ways” post, so I have five cards to share with you.

This card was made with a striped watercolored background using blues and purples. I stamped the three flowers with black ink on white cardstock and colored them in with Copic markers. I added

I stamped the sentiment on a watercolored banner using black ink. I attached it to the bottom of the card and then attached the flowers with stems and leaves above the sentiment. I finished the card with some sequins.

For this next card, I stamped all of the images randomly on watercolor paper using black ink. I then painted over the images with watercolor paints and added some shading with watercolor markers.

I stamped the sentiment on a black banner with Versamark Ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I attached the banner to the bottom of the card and added some sequins around the watercolored background.

I started this card with a white card base. I die-cut a stitched rectangle out of watercolor paper and then painted the top of it (diagonally) yellow and the bottom of it pink leaving the center white.

I stamped the solid image stamps with colored inks and the outlines stamps with over these to add details. I colored the outline stamps with Copic markers and shaded the solid images with Copics as well. I die cut the images using the matching dies and attached them over the card. I added a banner with a stamped sentiment and some sequins.

This card shows another way to do a random stamped background using no line stamping. This time I stamped the images with Distress Inks in the colors I wanted them painted in. For solid images, I pressed just the stamps edges on the ink pad and then used a paintbrush to move the color to the inside. For the outlines, I stamped them and then added color with Distress Inks and a paintbrush.

I die-cut this piece and attached it to a card base. I die-cut a banner and watercolored it blue to match some of the flowers. I then stamped the sentiment with Versamark Ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Last, I added some small colored sequins around the background.

Insert Photo “Hello Friend”

I started this one by watercoloring a stitched die-cut with red paint. I splattered it with water and more paint to add texture. I then die-cut a smaller stitched rectangle and painted that one with yellow stripes. I stamped the sentiment “hello friend” over and over on this piece.

I stamped the flower inside and outside and the leaves on white cardstock with black ink. I colored them in with Copic markers. I attached them on the bottom right side of the yellow striped rectangle. I added some twine around the bottom and some sequins around the flowers. I attached this to the red painted rectangle.

Well, that’s it from me this month! Please visit my blog for detailed steps for each of these cards and “one stamp, five ways” posts each week. Thank you so much to Neat and Tangled for letting me be their August guest! Suzy Plantamura

We want to send out a HUGE thanks to Suzy for all of her work this month!  What a treat it has been to see these 'five ways' posts every Friday!  We so appreciate Suzy sharing her talent with us!

Hooray!

Hello there!

Mayuri here to share a card using the Hooray Nice and Neat die!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled August 2016 - Hooray.

I used an inky panel from my stash as the backdrop to this super cute die-cut - I thought the copper foil card stock offset beautifully against the blues and purples ;-)

I adhered the inky panel down to a white card base, and then added small dots of glue to the top, middle and bottom of the die-cut piece before adhering that down too.

For a bit of interest, I added a couple of twine bows to the centre of the die-cut piece and sprinkled a few gold sequins to finish up!

Black and White with Pops of Color

Hey friends, it's Nina-Marie here with you today featuring some of the newest Neat & Tangled stamps and dies in a fun birthday card!

I love rainbows and bright happy colors; they make you want to smile when you see them! In today's card, I've used black and white to my advantage, allowing the neutral colors to let my rainbow sentiment and bright, round baubles to take center stage... the impact of the colorful elements against a neutral background is really incredible!

I started off my card by die cutting the stars from the new Lucky Stars die set all over the left side of my white card panel. After cutting the stars, I placed a piece of silver glitter paper behind the stars and stamped some smaller stars among the larger ones using silver ink.

My celebrate sentiment (from the new Celebrate die set), is die cut using white cardstock that I colored with Copic markers in a rainbow color scheme; I layered a total of six of these words together to create a more solid sentiment. I also placed the outline for the word celebrate behind the die cut words and glued it directly to my card. Next I heat embossed a coordinating sentiment from the Celebrate stamp set in silver onto black cardstock. I cut the cardstock into a banner and popped it up off my card panel.

My colored baubles are die cut using the circle dies from the Scandinavian Prints die set; I love the whimsical feel of the circles and thought these would be a great fit for my card, adding to the festive feel. I colored the circles with Copics, covered them with clear Spectrum Noir sparkle, adhered them to my card with a mixture of foam and liquid adhesive, before finally adding a coating of Glossy Accents over top for a nice finishing touch.

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration for creating bright, happy cards using the new Lucky Stars dies and Celebrate stamp and die sets! Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with me... I'll see you again very soon!
