COLUMBIA RIVER CABLET HAT | FREE CROCHET PATTERN

My publications of 2020… well, I almost did not submitted last time, but have at least 4 publications to share, probably you saw some of them.

So, first is Columbia River Cable Hat for We Crochet magazine. I’m definitely hooked on crochet cables, done some designs and have tons of ideas, but my current To-Do-List is first 🙈🙃

COLUMBIA RIVER CABLE HAT

Named after the great Pacific Northwest river, the Columbia River Cable Hat is crocheted in a striking combination of popcorn stitches and post stitches that create a stunning allover pattern reminiscent of the swirls and eddies of a river.

Not only this hat is made with absolutely stunning Andean Treasure 100% baby alpaca yarn, but also pattern is available for free download at crochet.com.

Sheepback Scarf
This scarf is named after a term meaning “a rock formation caused by glacial erosion.” And sure enough, the gaps formed by cross-stitches remind us of this! The tonal, hand-dyed color gives depth and movement to this piece, and the blend of wool and silk feels wonderful.

Use puff stitches to create the incredible texture on this matching scarf and slouchy hat. Superbulky yarn creates the pom-pom on the hat and is threaded through the open spaces in the scarf.

NOTIONS
Yarn needle; stitch markers, 7 (9, 11); 3.5” cardboard square, 1.

GAUGE
1 patt rep (26 sts and 14 rows) = 3.75” wide and 7” tall.

NOTES
Tunic is worked in one piece in turned rounds from hem up to armhole, then front and back are worked separately and shoulders are seamed.

Fabric is very stretchy and given measurements are with garment laid flat.

NOTIONS
Yarn needle; 5.5” cardboard piece, 1; safety pins, 72.

GAUGE
15 hdc and 14 rows = 4”.

NOTES
After first strand, remaining strands will be connected at the beginning and left loose until shawl is finished.
