Mann Made Signs & Crafting Adventures

One of the perks of hosting JunkFest is meeting all the great shoppers from across the tri-state region (and beyond).  But what's really great about the junking business and the sale we host, is meeting the incredibly talented, artistic, and inspirational folks that are travelling great distances to help us put on a stellar show!

That category of people includes Jodi Mann, of Mann Made Signs from International Falls, MN.  Jodi is co-owner of "No Place Like Home" antiques store, and still manages to sell her hand made signs at many shops and events across ND and MN.

Like so many others, Jodi also has a FB page, where you can see some more of her work here.  All I can say is, WOW has this girl been busy!
Thanks for joining us this year Jodi....cannot wait to see your creations!!

Welcome Countryside Designs & Signs!

Have you noticed how popular typography has become? Especially when it comes to vintage decor? Along with that, vinyl decals and wall words are certainly holding their own. Karen Brandt of Countryside Signs & Designs has made an art form out of combining the two...vinyl & vintage!

Along with her home decor signs and decorated windows, Karen will also be bringing her own unique repurposed furniture, as well as vinyl clad tiles to JunkFest. Karen also has a FB page, Countryside Signs & Designs.  Stop out to JunkFest on Saturday, September 7 to help us welcome Karen!

Today's Double Feature!

Okay, people....have you figured out yet just how incredible JunkFest is going to be this year?!?
Aside from the magic that is JunkFest, our flea market vendors will leave you giddy with their wonderful wares, if not inspired to whip up something fabulous of your own! We've got it all..from fancy rehabbed to stuff in the rough! Remember our tag line: Bring your friends and bring a trailer, cuz this ain't your grandma's garage sale?  Well this is the year to track down that trailer because there's no trunk big enough for the junk you'll find!

Today's vendor feature is a two-fer....you know....2 for the price of one!! First up Fiddlestix, from Watertown, SD.  That's right, our neighbors to the south know how to impress with their repurposed furniture, hand crafted items, vintage, and one-of-a-kind finds!
Fiddlestix is a retail store, owned by Shelly Moon Palmer, and has been open for a little over 2 years.

Chalkboards in every color!

School never looked so fun!

Gorgeous details...

Great kid's room decor!

This is just a small sampling of what Fiddlestix has to offer.  To see more, check out their FB page
here.  Can't wait to see what Shelly brings to JunkFest!

The paparazzi will be at JunkFest!  Paparazzi Accessories by Carrie Beth brings their affordable fashion accessories to JunkFest for just 6 short hours on Saturday, September 7th!

And when they say "affordable" they mean $5 affordable!  With a children's line for $1-$2.

Carrie says "After attending JunkFest last year, and the great day that I had, I am excited to return!"

Well, Carrie, we're so glad you're coming back! Hard workin' junkers like their fashion accessories too!

Hope you've cleared your calendar for Saturday, September 7th!  JunkFest is the place to be!

Vendor Feature 3: Junk Rescuers

Vendor Feature number three brings you Ed & Mary Seeberg, known to many as the Junk Rescuers.  The Seebergs have been with us for many years, operating under the business name "Ed's Good Olde Toys."  I don't know how many other alias's they have, but I can tell you they have more "junk" than you can shake a stick at!

Ed & Mary...hauling bottle brush trees...
This picture was taken at a previous JunkFest, shortly before the pandemonium hit.

Useless trivia: there is no "Vivian" street in Carrington

I spy a great set of mis-matched chairs for some one's kitchen table!

Lots of great what-nots, doo-dads, and thingamajigs. Perfectly organized, I might add.

Ed & Mary always bring quality goods....true vintage pieces that are in great shape and clean!

When the Spirit moves...

When the spirit moved for me the other day, I knew immediately I had to pull up my boot straps and move with it! And, in case you were wondering, I'm referring to Christmas decor...
I've had my tree and decorations up for a while now....just wasn't feeling very inspired or creative this year. Until I found these stockings I sewed last year and threw in a drawer! My goal for 2012 is "finish what you start" so what better time than the present to start!

The stockings are not your standard size....more for elves I would say. They are made out of osnaberg fabric and embellished with some fun bits and pieces.

I adhered some old watch faces to some pleated ribbon, as well as the numbers 2 and 5....a nod to my junk sister Andrea.

Next up, an aluminum "C" for "Cassie" or "Christ" or "Christmas" and some jingle bells....for dashing through that snow we don't have just yet....

In secret anticipation of said snow, how about a sparkly snowflake ornament with a vintage button taking center stage?

What could be prettier than a vintage mother-of-pearl buckle? How about a m-o-p buckle with some rhinestone bling added?

I used twine to make loops for the stockings, and added some evergreen from one of my shrubs. Yes, the evergreen is dry. We need snow....shh...

They're small enough to hang almost anywhere...

Here they adorn a chippy, open shelf cabinet bottom....my make-shift mantel for the season!

Dear Spirit.....please move me much earlier next year!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Chocolate...it's not just for breakfast anymore!

I recently just finished painting my dining room...wanna see? Previously, it was two different shades of mossy green, divided by a chair rail. It was just okay. I had been thinking about a chocolate brown for some time. When I saw a room in the Bachman's Idea House painted brown, I decided to go for it!

You'll have to excuse my pictures....north facing window, dark color, glare, rookie camera, blah...blah...blah.....
I bought some Martha Stewart paintable bead-board wallpaper for below the chair rail and painted it Antique white to match the trim color. It's quite a sharp contrast with the brown, but I love it.

This is the front of a chippy vintage dresser drawer that I picked up from one of our JunkFest vendors this year.

During our visit to the Bachman's idea house we shopped the store, where I bought this cool bulk scale....now sitting on my dining room table.

I didn't even have to change my window treatments or slipcovers!

I have a collection (3 is a collection, right?) of chippy white columns standing in one corner, holding faux pumpkins that I painted white & stained.

My cream stoneware vases pop nicely against the brown too...

...as well as some architectural pieces that rest on top of some repurposed kitchen cabinets-turned china hutch. I guess I have a few cloches too....

The paint color is Valspar's Earthly Impressions, but it's exactly the color of a Hershey bar. Milk Chocolate.....ask me how I know...
