On November 16, 2009 the space shuttle Atlantis launched. It was carrying 3 (Fourth Instar) monarch caterpillars. These caterpillars will live at the international space station, and we will be able to observe them go through the stages of their life cycle. Sixth graders at Immaculate Conception School received 6 caterpillars at the same stage of development to compare the growth of both groups.
