Bambu-P1_X1-High-Temp-Chute

Waste chute for Bambu Lab P1/X1 printers with block plate for Nylon, PC, ASA Bambu high temp chute rendering

Background

Some materials are notoriously sensitive to chamber temperature variations or require elevated chamber temperature for proper bed adhesion and to control warping. This chute cover helps by reducing air drafts entering the chamber via the waste chute.

Note

Bambu Labs advises against installing anything covering the waste chute, as it can cause issues with waste purge and possibly lead to nozzle clogs. More info here.

Printing

  • PETG seems to be a good material choice for this print
  • About 5 oz. of filament
  • 0.20mm Standard profile
  • Supports guidance:
    • Split the Receptacle.step assembly to individual objects. Receptacle: Turn on supports (on build plate only). Print with tabs/mating flange facing up and off the bed.
    • Chute: Turn on supports (on build plate only). Print with screw flanges facing up and off the bed. < 44 degree threshold angle will minimize support waste.
    • Supports are not needed for the block plate or receptacle closeout panel. Print the block plate with the flat surface on the build plate.

Using

Note

If your printer is installed on isolation feet or otherwise elevated from the countertop, add feet to the receptacle to match or the waste chute opening will be too small for proper operation.

  • Install the closeout panel into the open face of the receptacle. The parts should friction fit securely with no need for glue.
  • Remove the two screws holding the back cover of the printer to the waste chute.
  • Retrieve two 8mm long screws from the spare scraper baggie in the Bambu accessories box.
  • Install the chute using the two 8mm screws, being very careful not to overtighten.
  • Gently slide the cover door over the end of the chute.
  • When printing most materials, you can snap the receptacle into the two receiving slits in the cover door.
    • Start with the bottom of the receptacle at a 45 degree angle from the printer, insert, and move the receptacle to an upright position.
    • Installing receptacle
  • When printing temperature-sensitive materials, remove the receptacle and print with the cover door closed.
