Titel is a town and surrounding municipality in Vojvodina, Serbia.

[edit]Titel has a population of roughly 6,000, and a municipality population around 17,000. Best known for the hill above the town—the dramatic outcropping of a fertile plateau to the north—and the road and rail bridges that cross the nearby Tisa River, Titel is an authentic Serbian town that seldom sees tourists.
Get in
[edit]By car, bus, or boat. The 50 km drive from Novi Sad is pleasant, particularly the section over the plateau. Titel is just 10 km up the Tisa from its confluence with the Danube.
Get around
[edit]Titel's centre, on and around Glavna Ulica east of Zmaj Jovina Ulica, is small enough to navigate on foot. The hill, plateau, and river are all easily explored by foot or bicycle.

[edit]- Climb Titel Hill for a good view of the town and surrounding countryside to the south and east. Access is via the unsealed road at 45.20716 N, 20.30691 E.
- Stroll the plateau, enjoying the unusual perspective of having the horizon close by.
- Explore the banks of the Tisa, including marshes and forests to the south.

It seldom sees tourists these days, and looks a little tired, but the staff are helpful and rooms are clean. roughly $30 for a twin room; breakfast included.
