Thank you

Delete?
[edit]Most well-established Wikipedians never delete messages from their talk pages: they periodically archive them. By all means blank this page (although it is considered bad practice) but there is absolutely no need for it to be deleted. I am amazed to find an admin making this request. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:20, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- :) I know, but I do not keep to this practice everywhere; usually no talk on this page and use home-wiki instead local projects. --Jackie (talk) 19:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Fine. By all means replace this page with: "I do not visit this page very often. If you want a speedy response, please leave your message here". But you don't need an admin to do that for you! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 02:29, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
20th century photographers
[edit]Hello. I see that you created and are now busily populating Category:20th-century photographers.
I believe that the huge majority of photographers of note can reasonably be called "20th-century photographers". So you've set up a category for a majority of a very large number of photographers.
Even the precedents aren't good. Though only a minority of musicians are from the 20th century (good), Category:20th-century musicians has just two subcategories: Category:20th-century rock musicians and Category:20th-century composers: no mention of jazz players, mambo players, French horn players, mbira players, calypsonians, etc.
Please explain why Category:20th-century photographers is helpful. Thank you. -- Hoary (talk) 16:44, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I added there is not all photographers, but only the most well-known, for example, had gained fame awards or otherwise. Articles for category taken from the same-name category of ru-wiki and reviewed by me before categorization here. Do you wish save or remove all this contribute? — Jackie (talk) 18:01, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- But rather obscure photographers who worked in the 20th century, e.g. Pinky Bass or Mieko Shiomi, are just as much 20th-century photographers as are justly famous photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson (who's not yet included) or trendies such as David LaChapelle (who is). Imagine that this attracts a lot of support, and dozens of people join in, categorizing most of the 20th-century photographers as "20th-century photographers". Then what will you have? Thousands and thousands of "20th-century photographers" -- too many to be of any use. So then dozens more people will have to divide these up into "20th-century Russian photographers", "20th-century Georgian photographers", etc, which actually could be useful. ¶ What's your own area of interest? I'd work on that. If for example it's Russian photographers, then you could divide Category:Russian photographers into Category:19th-century Russian photographers, Category:20th-century Russian photographers, and Category:21st-century Russian photographers (of course with overlaps; so for example Gueorgui Pinkhassov would be 20th and 21st). -- Hoary (talk) 01:30, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
CfD nomination of Category:20th-century photographers
[edit]I have nominated Category:20th-century photographers (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 03:06, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- Jackie, it was not appropriate to create new-sub-categories of Category:20th-century photographers while that category was being considered for deletion. I am in the process of adding all the national sub-categories to the the discussion page; please do not create any more such categories or add any articles to them unless the CfD discussion is closed with a consensus to keep. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:12, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:46, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Bot malfunction
[edit]Hi. Just letting you know that this was a pretty serious failure of the bot. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 03:52, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. This is result from commonscat.py -interwiki command on a few categories :( Now I run it only with -lang:ZZ without -interwiki argument. I already checked the latest bot's edits here. — Jack 06:06, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Jackie
[edit]Jackie is a unisex name ? Ancêtre (talk) 18:20, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know. I'm from Russia and my real name another, russian too. I chosen this nick because "Jack" already has been registered here and at some other language wiki too - I just change sign to the "Jack" at my main wikies. If you ask about origin name - see Jack (given name) and Jackie (given name). I think, that is a unisex name only in the regions where origin name Jacqueline has spread. But I know, that Jack (with derivative Jackie) a more spread in the english-speaking countries and derivative "Jackie" is an independent male name in the Australia too. — Jack 18:45, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Usurp
[edit]Hi threre, I replied to your message on my talk page but thought I would reply here too. I am opposed to you usurping to the username Jack as it still is under my ownership and I made many edits in the past under the name. Sorry. -- bydand•talk 22:41, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
JackieBot
[edit]Hi. I am a BAG member and I have a question. Has JackieBot approval to fix url prefixes? Because I can't find it. I knew JackieBot as an interwiki. If it has not for that new task, you should formally apply for one. It won't be a big problem that you are re-approved I presume. -- Magioladitis (talk) 20:57, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
