The University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italian: Università degli Studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale)—Unicas—was established in 1979. It is an Italian public university whose headquarters is in Cassino, while two branches are located in Frosinone and Atina.

With nine programmes (six Master's degrees and three Bachelor's degrees) entirely taught in English and more than 1500 international students from 58 different nationalities, Unicas is now established as a district for International Studies, a significant excellence among Italian universities.

Unicas plays a pivotal role in education, research, and technological transfer, fostering public engagement within its local region Southern Lazio.

In the Angevin-Aragonese castle of Gaeta there is a university conference hall.
