Who's your Patriarch now?
[edit]In the process of researching about events and people of the 1620s, I came across and noticed that there some conflicting listings of the Patriarchs of the Assyrian Church of the East. Some listings include Mar Eliyya IX (held position 1617-1660) as a patriarch during this decade. Others put Elia Shimun XII (1600-53) as the patriarch during this time. To make matters more complicated the former individual, Mar Eliyya IX, was included as a Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church according to a FAQ by the Assyrian International News Agency (AINA) titled "Assyrians: Frequently Asked Questions" (http://www.aina.org/faq.html). Were there multiple competing claimants to the patriarchate and if so, does anyone know where I can find some reliable resources to solve these questions? I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 1620s's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "Cassell's Chronology":
- From 1612: Williams, Hywel (2005). Cassell's Chronology of World History. Weidenfeld & Nicolson. p. 244. ISBN 0-304-35730-8.
- From 1620s in England: Williams, Hywel (2005). Cassell's Chronology of World History. Weidenfeld & Nicolson. pp. 248–253. ISBN 0-304-35730-8.
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 15:05, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Question regarding Mumtaz Mahal's date of death
[edit]I have been trying to find when Empress Consort Mumtaz Mahal died, but I have two contridictory dates. Some sources state 1629 yet others mark her death as 1631. Does anyone know when she died? (please state a reliable source if possible). User:Fuelsaver (User talk:Fuelsaver) 5:37 PM, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Re-organization of Important personalities section
[edit]Considering that the Important personalities section is becoming increasing cluttered with more and more people being added to it, I am thinking of re-organizing it by placing the individuals on the list into more specific categories, though not right now. Here are some categories and sub-categories that I think should be created:
- Architects
- Artists
- Painters
- Sculptors
- Economists
- Explorers and Colonists
- Explorers (and other travellers)
- Colonists and Colonizers
- Historians
- Jurists
- Judges
- Lawyers
- Mathematicians
- Merchants
- Militarymen
- Musicians
- Composers
- Instrumentalists
- Vocalists
- Philosophers
- Pirates
- Politicians/Statesmen
- Diplomats
- National level figures
- Regional level figures
- Scholars
- Scientists
- Astronomers
- Engineers
- Theologians
- Writers
- Literary writers
- Playwrights
- Poets
If anyone reading this feels that I might be missing important categories or simply wants to provide suggestions, feel free to respond with your comments. Fuelsaver (talk) 23:13, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
