Question from TLH2024+ on Help:Template (15:32, 6 February 2025)

edit

“Hello!” I have signed up to contribute to this amazing tool. I am an experienced voice artist intending to do have an impact there. To do my best I want to begin by creating new and perhaps editing some existing wikis. Question: In order to have the most impact, I want to first record the 100 most accessed articles; Do you know how I can get such a list? THANKS! --TLH2024+ (talk) 15:32, 6 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @TLH2024+, toolforge:topviews can generate a list of most viewed articles based on selected parameters. Liu1126 (talk) 16:43, 6 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Am puzzled between changing articles by adding more information or just changing spelling words how does it work --Unquestionably will (talk) 13:58, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Unquestionably will, I'm confused about what you are asking. If you're interested in learning about what tasks you may perform, the Wikipedia:Task Center has a directory for some common tasks on Wikipedia. Liu1126 (talk) 19:51, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

How do I create an article --Josephakpabio (talk) 00:56, 12 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Josephakpabio, Help:Your first article is a good guide to the article creation process. However, article creation is a fairly difficult task that I would not recommend for new editors; you can check out some of the easier tasks at the Wikipedia:Task Center to gain some experience before trying to create a new article from scratch. Other tutorials like Help:Introduction and Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia may also be helpful. Liu1126 (talk) 01:48, 12 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from CwHerby13 (16:40, 24 February 2025)

edit

I believe I have made the necessary adjustments to my page to meet Wiki standards for publishing. Could you take a look for me? --CwHerby13 (talk) 16:40, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @CwHerby13, the main issue with the Lincoln School Project article right now is that the inline citations are positioned incorrectly. The inline citations should be place at the end of the sentence(s) or paragraph that it's intended to support, not clustered at the start or end of the article, nor within section headings. If you have the time, I would recommend reading the inline citation section of Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:Inline citation to better understand how inline citations are used.
Some other problems:
  • You've got a lot of level 2 sections that are followed by a fairly short section, which seems somewhat jarring. Consider combining some of the sections, possibly using level 3 or lower headings to provide further internal division if necessary. See WP:SECTIONLEVELS for technical details on section headings.
  • The External links section is currently empty. I would recommend either moving the https://www.lincolnschoolproject.com/ link in the History section header to External links (there shouldn't be links in section headers anyway, per MOS:NOSECTIONLINKS), or deleting the empty section outright.
  • Some of the language sounds too flowery (such as the image caption in the lead section). This could be seen as puffery or even promotion, so try to remove any unnecessary adjectives/adverbs unless you're directly quoting a source.
Liu1126 (talk) 19:17, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for the reply! I didn't realize I could move those inline citations myself! The system just kind of placed them, so that's awesome.
I apologize, I wasn't aware that there were links in the section headers, I will take a look.
I can also de-flower some of the language. I'm a writer by trade, so I guess I tent to get a bit flowery. CwHerby13 (talk) 19:22, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

edit

hello sir as i am new to wikipedia can you tell me how to add an article --Romanzargar7 (talk) 15:23, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Romanzargar7, Help:Your first article is a comprehensive guide to creating new articles. However, I would recommend gaining some more experience by working on easier tasks first, like the ones at the Wikipedia:Task Center or the structured tasks on your homepage. Liu1126 (talk) 15:28, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
thanks for guiding me indeed i would start from easier tasks first as you said already. Romanzargar7 (talk) 07:33, 28 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from Lt TARGET (21:37, 28 February 2025)

edit

I was editing the Politics of Trinidad and Tobago Wikipedia page when notice that the President's Wikipedia page says she is affiliated with the People's National Movement political party but the Politics of Trinidad and Tobago Wikipedia page main office holder table list her as Independent. Should this be change? --Lt TARGET (talk) 21:37, 28 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Lt TARGET, according to Christine Kangaloo's Wikipedia article (which is supported by Newsday source), she resigned from the PNM in 2015 after being elected as senate president, so the Politics of Trinidad and Tobago article is correct in saying that she's an independent. If you think either page is unclear on describing her party affiliation, feel free to edit the wording. Liu1126 (talk) 23:36, 28 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
