PayPal
editIs pay pal actually e-cash, or does it just process credit card transactions?
- PayPal does more than just credit cards; I fund my PayPal account from my bank account. I'm not sure if it counts as e-cash, though, as all amounts are held in a national currency. Jobarts-Talk 12:53, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- In my opinion PayPal is electronic payment not electronic cash --Markulf 09:50, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Anonymous Ecash
editWhat would the ramifications be if there were a cryptographically backed Ecash system that held payer and payee untraceable to each other, to remote observers, and even to the issuing bank itself? Is this anything anyone has done or tried yet?
I only say because I think I may have stumbled upon a tech solution that would allow exactly that. I'm putting out a request for comments.
Thanks. :) Jesset77 10:36, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes this was done by David Chaum. In cryptography e-cash is quasi synonymous with anonymous e-cash which looks a lot like what you are suggesting. I will try to rewrite the entry to provide more information about anonymous e-cash, and will remove PayPal, as it is an electronic payment solution that has not too much to do with e-cash as such. --Markulf 09:50, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

editI #REDIRECTed this to Electronic money, will merge anything relevent. - Ironic goat (talk) 21:46, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Citations?
editThe first senctence about "Gary Tilip with his partner, Stevhen Tigong" seems to be nonsense. Google for these names and you will find "near to nothing" results. --129.13.186.1 (talk) 11:58, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I suggest, to delete this part, if nobody is able to deliver a citation. --Stanislawlem (talk) 13:32, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
How did it actually work?
editAs far as I can see, the article explains insufficiently how the system worked. "eCash software on the user's local computer stored money in a digital format, cryptographically signed by a bank." - ok, and how did the money get in there? Was it obtained with the software as such? How could the customer refill his account? --KnightMove (talk) 20:11, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
Anonymous or "anonymous" as bitcoin
editWired [1] calls it " a truly anonymous payment system," Setenzatsu.2 (talk) 20:01, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
