WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BILBO.~~~MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA~ (Travelin' Man)

Posted by Picasa

Wishin' my mammary glands would shrink is something this gal never thought she'd do when she was a young farm chick just commin' into her womanhood. In the midst of my shingle outbreak the Zora trekked from my backbone 'round my side to the tip of my left Grand Teton, Alfred. The blistery mass also made a beeline from my breastbone to Alfred's peek attacking from the other side . Poor Alfred was blown up like a banded bull gone bad and felt like a bowling ball strapped to my chest. Everything has gotten better but I continue to have a belt girdled around me where I'm experiencing posterpetic neuralgia along with swelling that leaves poor Alfred playin' peek-a-boo over my brand new Warners. This is where the docs would prescribe ya anything from antidepressants to morphine. Ya, like this natural woman is gonna do that! The hyperesthea (oversensitivity) and paresthea (pins and needles to numbness) are kinda' entertainin' to play with. I can press on my forehead and feel it beside my nose on my cheek. A spot on me leg when touched sends tingly sensations to my ankle...freaky huh? What a girl won't do for amusement stuck out in the middle of nowhere. I AM takin' it easy... well, as easy as a chick can take it on a busy farm and do so appreciate all the prayers, well wishes, emails and surprises delivered by Larry the Mailman. I am blessed. Do I have the best followers or what?

I am so gonna miss the best little ranch hand I've ever had. Yep, that little Bilbo said he was tired to the bone and packed his little purple bag and travelin' trunk 'cause he's a real travelin' man at heart. He told me he didn't care if he didn't see a tractor, lawnmower or bovine for a very, very long time. He'd had enough of farm livin' and should be landing in Minot, North Dakota today. He'll be spening time with Jessica over at IT'S NOT THAT BAD. I'm bettin' sweet Jessica, her hubby and adorably delightful children will show Bilbo the time of his life. Hopefully he can rest up and recover from gettin' down and dirty here on the Ponderosa.

Right off of Billboard's Hot 100 1961 number one hit singles, I can hear the little garden gnome singin' "I've make a lot of stops all over the world" just like that handsome Ricky Nelson. Yep, from Buckingham Palace to the Ozarks that Bilbo is a tried and true "TRAVELIN' MAN!!!"

  5. Well, I'm thrilled for Bilbo that he's leaving the rigors of farm life, but wishing he would have taken those awful shingles with him. And I do hope he'll find a new home before those cold North Dakota winters hit...maybe someplace in Florida?

By the way, we can certainly tell Bilbo is of royal blood - he himself glows golden and carries a royal purple valise!

Wishing you and Poor Alfred a speedy recovery from this day on!

  6. Oh Girly-Girl, I have such sympathy for you. Can you go "commando" at all or do you have to be, as we used to say, "hoofed up" constantly to keep the pain under control? Man, that sound really awful. Keeping in you in my prayers and sending soothing vibes over the internets. Keep on hanging in there, sorry about the pun.

  7. So good to see a post from you - so sorry you are still suffering. Still praying for you and hoping completely healing is right around the Ponderosa corner!

  8. I am going with Bilbo. It has to be cooler there, no farm work and no outside job for me!

Glad you are feeling a little better and that will happen each day a tad more. I wanted an instant healing but I guess you did too.

Want to do a post on Gail in a box? Maybe just doing someone else's farm work would be a relief. I heard rumors of a pool and sweet tea...

  9. I am sooooo sorry that your shingles are still plaguing you so much. I hurt for you just hearing you describe them. Praise God for your sense of humor and for sharing it with us. We are the ones blessed.

  10. I am so sorry to hear you have been sick - more like under attack really. It sounds miserable. I've always heard an attack of shingles would make you want to pull your hair out. 16. I hope "The Good Ol' Summertime" finds you further down the road to healing and that you don't feel like you need to take over all of Bilbo's work just because he had decided to continue his travels. It is great to hear from you and keep taking care of yourself.

  17. Oh, Nezzy. I'm so sorry that you are still battling with the effects of the shingles. i am glad to see your sense of humor hasn't suffered though.

  18. I'm twitching from the remembrance of when I had shingles. It's painful but never was I amused. I guess my attitude stunk next to your cheerful one. Hang in there though. Maybe the worst is almost over?

I'm sure Bilbo will shed a few tears when he leaves. But, think of the adventures he's in for when he arrives in North Dakota. Take care of yourself.

  19. now that is cute. we participated in a flat stanley for several people. That was a fun project.

  29. Kudos to you for bravely withstanding the fierce attack of Herpes Zoster upon you. Let's hope that after his encounter with Nezzy from Ponderosa, he'll totally disappear from this world !

I'd love to host Bilbo sometime but I wonder if my kids would scare the pants off of him. He'd be begging to go back to the quiet farm life he was so anxious to leave!!!

  60. Hi Nezzy! I haven't heard anything from you since May, and thought you had quit posting, am so glad to see you back!! But I am so sorry to hear about your shingles attack!! We know several people that just got shingles, and we really need to get that vaccine! I'm like you, don't want to use drugs if I can bear it, which is one reason we haven't gotten the vaccine yet. I am including you in my prayers that you will make a speedy recovery with no lingering side effects. I know you are making the best of things with your great sense of humor, that can be hard when you're in pain, but I think you are a pioneer woman at heart, huh?

  66. Oh, shingles! How miserable! I had them my first year of teaching (The doc said it was stress. DUH!)but they didn't come completely out--I just had an itchy little circle of half-developed ones on my lower back. So I thought my husband had it bad when he got it and they went right around his middle. I carefully scratched around them for him so as not to leave any scars. But it sounds like you've had a terrible case, and I hope they're gone soon!! Sending lots of positive energy your way!
