Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Match of the Day after today's victory: "We were really good, good energy up front. Nico Gonzalez helped us a lot, I was really pleased because we needed him, it has been a tough three months.
"He is our mini Rodri! He has a huge presence, his pace, and his time at Barcelona academy, it is all about the ball and positioning. He has the desire to have success in the Premier League, he is here to prove himself."
On Omar Marmoush: "We knew sooner or later he would score goals, he is a good finisher. Of course he has to improve, but now we see how he handles the compliments.
On Erling Haaland: "I have not spoken to the doctor, but I was scared when he went down. Maybe it's not bad as it could be."

Omar Marmoush's hat-trick was Man City's 44th in the Premier League (2 more than any other side), while the Etihad Stadium has seen 32 trebles, three more than any other ground.
The Egyptian scored his hat-trick in just 13 minutes and 54 seconds – the fourth-fastest hat-trick scored by a Man City player in the Premier League. The fastest was scored by Sergio Aguero in October 2015, in 11 minutes and 40 seconds - also against Newcastle.
Following his assist for Man City's opener, Ederson has provided the outright most assists of any goalkeeper in Premier League history (6), he's also the first keeper to provide three assists in a single campaign.

"I also have to thank my team-mates, the coach and staff, everyone helped me from the first day making me feel part of this family.
"It was an amazing atmosphere, I would like to thank the fans for the really nice applause."
Sutton's predictions: Man City v Newcastlepublished at 11:02 15 February
11:02 15 February
I am at this game for BBC Radio 5 live and there is no way Manchester City are keeping a clean sheet.
In fact, until I realised just how bad Newcastle's record is at the Etihad, I was thinking of backing Eddie Howe's side to win.
City have won the past 10 league games between the two sides here, and my old Blackburn strike partner Alan Shearer got the winner the last time Newcastle took the points at City - in September 2000 at their old Maine Road ground.
That all points to a City win for me, far more than their current form does anyway.
Let's face it, form does not really help me much anyway at the moment. Who could have seen Newcastle losing at home to Fulham in their last league game?
So I may as well say a hoodoo like this one will continue and City will get over the line, even if Newcastle do definitely have a goal or two in them.
I don't think it will make much difference who City start in goal, because Ederson and Stefan Ortega have both made mistakes this season, but it is going to be interesting to see who Pep Guardiola picks with the second leg of their Champions League tie with Real Madrid coming up next week.
'I expect Lewis and Khusanov to battle for spot' - fans on loss of Akanjipublished at 18:31 14 February

We asked for your views on how Pep Guardiola should deal with the loss of Manuel Akanji through injury for up to 10 weeks.
Here are some of your comments:
Rick: We won't miss Akanji. He has not always been the perpetrator of the numerous recent schoolboy errors, but he is nearly always at the scene. He needed to be dropped anyway and the time off might just reset him to his magnificent best.
MU: Wish Akanji a speedy recovery. He has been nothing short of consistent ever since he arrived for an absolute bargain as well. As long as John Stones remains fit he should play as a number six because Mateo Kovacic is a bad fit in this really underperforming team. I expect Rico Lewis and Abdukodir Khusanov to battle for that starting spot.
James: I don't see much change. It is clear the issues are in the midfield position vacated by Rodri, which exposes any attack-minded squad such as City. Our other central midfielders are technically astute but lack the pace and energy to track back through a combination of their age and ever-increasing minutes. Akanji's absence is an opportunity for the new defensive signings to slot in - and with Stones coming back in, we won't be short of cover. I'd like to see Gvardiol, Dias, Reis and Khusanov, with Stones sat in front.
Stella: I'm not at all surprised we are continually facing players getting injuries. Pep's equation of having a small squad plus ageing legs and bodies doesn't add up. Many of these injuries are caused by overuse. We scraped over the line last year to win the title with an ageing squad, alongside some luck with other clubs underperforming. The decline should, and could, have been addressed last year. Not often you can say that the club has mismanaged this situation, but obvious mistakes concerning recruitment and lack of rebuilding has caused the decline, which was entirely avoidable given City's resources.
Man City 'still the benchmark' - Howepublished at 17:47 14 February

Eddie Howe says Manchester City are still setting "the benchmark" in the Premier League, despite recording 12 defeats in their past 24 games.
The Newcastle boss believes his team will need to produce "their best performance" in order to take points from their trip to Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
"I don't think you can necessarily look at their form over that period of time," Howe said. "I think you have to look at it over a much longer period of time.
"They have been sensational for so many seasons, which is so difficult to do at this level because of the standard of the other teams.
"You never know what is going to happen when you go to any stadium in the Premier League now, so I think that is producing something very interesting this year - but Manchester City are a good team.
"Statistically, they have been very strong at home. They are still the benchmark for me and we will have to produce our best performance to try to get something from this match."

Guardiola on Akanji surgery, team news and Newcastlepublished at 13:09 14 February

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Newcastle (kick-off 15:00 GMT).
Here are the key lines from his news conference:
Manuel Akanji is out for "eight-to-10 weeks" with an abductor injury and will have surgery on Saturday.
On Akanji's injury stretching his defensive options further: "I just wish him a speedy recovery because the effort he has put in this season has been unbelievable. Him and Nathan [Ake] have played in difficult conditions. There has been a lack of players in that position and his body has said enough is enough."
Guardiola is also doubtful Jack Grealish will be available after being being forced off against Real Madrid on Tuesday, but he will be assessed later on Friday.
On new signing Nico Gonzalez, who was withdrawn on his debut against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup last Saturday: "Day by day, he is getting better. He will also be assessed in a few hours."
He said "the hours and day after a defeat are difficult" but going forward his side "have to be better."
Assessing what it is that City are struggling with at the moment: "It's not one subject - if it was then it would be easy to solve it. We have always been so comfortable with the ball and now we are not so. You then have to rely on a physical presence and our physicality is not like other teams."
He said they "have made some steps backwards compared to the progress made in previous seasons" but they have to maintain their belief and exploit home advantage on Saturday.
On opponents Newcastle: "They always have been [a difficult side] since Eddie Howe took over. They have good form and unbelievable pace. It's a credit to them."

Manchester City have lost just one of their past 34 Premier League games against Newcastle (W27 D6), a 2-1 defeat in January 2019.
City have also won their past 15 Premier League home games against Newcastle – only three teams have had longer such winning runs against an opponent in English top-flight history: Everton against Fulham (22 from 1961 to 2018), Aston Villa against Sheffield United (16 from 1903 to 1921) and Manchester United against Luton (16 from 1955 to 2023, still ongoing).
However, Newcastle United have won each of their past four Premier League games on the road. Not since October 1994 have they won five in succession away from home, the only previous time they have done so in the competition.
