Okada
Hey there, M.S. here.
We have recently been seeing an increase in the amount of interviews we conduct via Skype. Interviews with people from remote locations has also been increasing a lot. (*) Lots of interviewees from the March earthquake and tsunami disaster areas and we have also extended a number of number of tentative contracts, so in this sense the interviews are paying off for the interviewees. However, I am still
not able to get used to the sight of the interviewees on the other side of the camera sitting in their homes wearing full suits. One interviewee from the other day was wearing a full suit and necktie while sitting in seiza (A formal way of sitting) behind a low tea table in a 6 tatami mat sized Japanese style room. In the background one could see numerous books etc., all in all it felt very surreal.
Interviewees, while we understand your feelings and the reason why you want to wear a suit for the interview, you are really, really free to wear more casual clothes for your interviews. We have no problems at all with it! Please be more at ease.
*Even though we do interviews via Skype, final interviews are held in Shibuya, Tokyo. The company covers all interviewee travel expenses for the trip to Shibuya.
Well, this brings us to this weeks article. This weeks article is an extract from the MariaDB research that we announced earlier. The author is the Ameba system engineer and leader of the second infrastructure team, Mr. S. I have worked with him for a long time and his seat is also close to mine, but I just can't seem to think of a good introduction for him. Both Mr. S and Mr. Okuda,in fact, most of our database engineers have a certain "coolness" factor to them. A certain amount of staff diversity is however very important, so I
would like to recruit some "geeky" database engineers as well. Someone who even when they turn over 30, thinks that a woman's heart can be normalised, someone who lives for an ideal would be great.
Ok. Please check the next blog entry.
