The green, green grass of home

I’ve been taking it easy for the past couple of days, trying to ditch this dreadful cold. I’ve managed to reduce it to a DefCon 3 or 4 (sniffles and sore throat) where it had previously been a DefCon 2 (incapacitated and aching all over). The reason why I’ve been so studiously recuperating is that I’ve got some travelling ahead of me tomorrow.

I’m not going all that far. It’s a hop, skip and a jump over to Ireland to spend some time in my home town of Cobh. Jessica’s family are flying over from the States (we have a rendez-vous planned in Gatwick) so we’ll be doing plenty of touristy sight-seeing — but always in a laid back, relaxed manner.

If I manage to kick this cold, I’ll return with pictures of scenic, if somewhat rainy, West Cork and Kerry. If my medical condition doesn’t improve, I’ll just ensconce myself in some quiet pub corner near an open fire with a pint of Murphy’s (yes, I know that a hot toddy would be better for me but I must be the only Irishman that doesn’t like whiskey).
