COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is the second course of a three-part sequence of Intermediate Accounting required for students in the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program. Intermediate Accounting is a course of study in
financial accounting that deals with the principles and procedures in the preparation and presentation of financial statements in accordance with the financial reporting framework. The course covers
understanding and application of accounting principles and standards relating to nature and composition of accounts, initial recognition, measurement and valuation, subsequent events and transactions,
subsequent measurement and the required disclosures of:
1 - Intangible Assets 2 - Investment Property 3 - Investment in Equity Securities 4 - Non-Current Assets Held for Sale
5 - Financial Liabilities 6 - Investment in Debt Securities
COURSE DELIVERY MODE
Blended Model
This course is being offered in a blended format. Part of it will be delivered through an online module, and the other part will be conducted in a virtual classroom. As such, self-directed learning and
or home assignments will form bulk of the student's learning experience. This blended learning model however, will provide students with more flexibility to complete the coursework at times that best
suit their schedule and learning preference. With this learning approach, the conduct and delivery of the course is defined as follows:
The weekly schedule of activities will be based on the following structure:
Module release: Monday via Google Classroom
Threaded discussion: Wednesday (responses due by 11:59 PM, GMT+8) via Google Classroom
Practice quiz/Assignment submission: Thursday (complete answers due by 11:59 PM, GMT+8) Html link to quizzes posted via Google Classroom
Virtual classroom: Friday (12:00 NN - 3:00 PM, GMT+8) via Google Meet
Quizzes Quizzes will be given at the end of each topic. Please refer to the course plan below.

Learning Module
Learning modules will guide the students in navigating the lessons. It shall be accessed via Google classroom and shall be available at the start of the week. Every module in itself is designed to be a
self-contained study material. This course is structured in 6 lessons presented each in a separate module. Each module will be based on the Learning Objectives for the course and the major sections
based from our required reading resource.

Other online learning resources may include the following:
Pre-Recorded Videos - Pre-recorded lectures that cover the topic for the week will be posted from time to time. Each video will be about 15-30 minutes (may be shorter or longer
as the case may be). You will get to watch (and re-watch) these videos at your own time. There may also be videos posted from a variety of sources about the topic in discussion.
Powerpoint slides - Summary of the lesson will be posted at regular intervals as Powerpoint presentations for ease of reference.
Threaded discussions
Online class participation is an essential part of this course. Students are required to respond to a series of online questions that will be posted each week. Questions for discussion shall be
posted both on Google Classroom and via a dedicated Facebook messenger group chat account. Responses to my original questions should be posted in Google classroom no later than
Wednesday midnight GMT+8 Comments to atleast 2 other students' responses should be posted no later than Thursday midnight GMT+8. Students will be graded according to content, context
and articulation of responses.
On-line Quizzes / Assignments
There will be a timed on-line practice quiz each week that will serve as assignment. After completing each learning module and required readings, students will have to answer a 10 question
multiple choice type practice quiz. Link to the quiz will be posted via Google classroom. Deadline for the submission of answers are strictly implemented. The link to the quizzes therefore
terminates after the prescribed time schedule.
Summative quizzes shall be conducted in the same manner. Links to summative quizzes shall only be posted during virtual classroom hours and will not be accessible after this.
Summative quiizes will be given at the end of each topic.
Virtual classroom
Virtual classroom lecture and discussion meet-up is conducted only once a week for three (3) hours per meeting via a platform of choice. Assignments shall be discussed during the virtual
meet-up. Summative quizzes will be given out during virtual class. Each student is expected to come prepared at each virtual class having completed the tasks assigned to each module,
downloaded the materials, participated in the discussion thread and the weekly assignment submitted.
