El Presidente Movie Review

The document reviews the 2012 Filipino biopic film "El Presidente" about Emilio Aguinaldo and the first Philippine Republic. It notes that while the film was just okay and may have favored Aguinaldo's perspective too much, it sparked curiosity about historical conflicts and events. Some roles did not seem fitting and scenes were confusing at times. Overall, the reviewer found the film informative if watched with others to provide context, though it left some questionable aspects about historical figures and their relationships.

El Presidente Movie Review:

was a story/bioepic movie directed by Mark Meily about Emilio Aguinaldo y
Famy and the 1st Philippine Republic. It tells about his heroics and how he
manages to gain the trust of others and how he succeeds his position on K.K.K.
Though the movie for me was just fine, I cannot say it was really that great.
Maybe for the others it was really that good and maybe the reason why I said it
was just fine because Im used to watch only foreign/Hollywood movies. But its
a good thing that the movie has garnered or gained most of the awards and
became the 2nd in best picture in the 2012 Metro Manila Movie Festival.
So in the movie, for me the role of others does not fit them. And as you watch it
clearly the American troops was not all Americans but there are still some
Filipinos in it, so are the Spanish soldiers. And that made me confused in some
scenes maybe they are the Filipino, no they are Spanish kind of thing. And
the part where Nora Aunor came in and her aunt saying that she is her
pamangkin made me laugh because she looks much older than her aunt and
that made me think that maybe some roles or parts were rushed. Most parts of
the movie were based on Aguinaldos Memoirs of a Revolution. So what
happened in the movie, it showed the bad sides of the other heroes and made
them look like the bad guys or the villains in the movie. It was like the movie
was bias or so much attached to its main character Emilio Aguinaldo.
Ive seen many fails and flaws in the movie but putting those aside there were
still the good parts. First, for a long running movie, it didnt made me bored or
sleepy but made me become more curious about the conflict between Magdalo
and Magdiwang Faction. Though bias or it was all seen through Aguinaldos
perspective. It still made me think about some things about K.K.K and the
death of Bonifacio and Luna. There are many questionable events in the movie
like in the 1st part where the Magdiwang forces in Intramuros were fallen. Was it
really the go signal that made the plan fail or was it really the Magdalo,
Aguinaldo and his men were the reason why Magdiwang lost their fight in
Intramuros and Antonio Lunas Death. And some said that there was never
really a trial held for the Bonifacio brothers. According to some sources it is said
that they were already killed in Limbon. So, all of those made me realize that
even before, the Filipinos also turn their backs to each other. And again made
me realize that even in the worst cases some of our so called heroes were still
caught by their greed and anger to each other making things that most likely to
succeed become worst.

Not anymore making this review any longer so in overall the movie for me was
good and not boring; its worth waiting and watching and the story was not
really sure for me but still good and an eye opener for some. Though, I
recommend watching it with someone so it can be enjoyed.
