Wonder Man is a Marvel Comics character. He will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as the eponymous protagonist of Wonder Man, portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Wonder Man was created by Stan Lee and Don Heck.

- In the comics, Simon Williams was an industrialist who ran Williams Innovations and was Tony Stark's rival. He is later transformed into an ion powered super being by Baron Zemo and his Masters of Evil to get back at Stark. He later has a change of heart and turns his life around to become a superhero and even joins the Avengers. Later, he moves to Hollywood and becomes an actor while also balancing his superhero career.
- Simon Williams is arguably white in most incarnations, while the series makes him African-American. However, in the Ultimate Universe, Simon is implied to be biracial (half-white/half-black).
- Three of Wonder Man's outfits from the comics appear in the series. The original black and green outfit appears in the older Wonder Man movie, the more contemporary black outfit that Simon wears for the movie, and his "safari" outfit that he wears at the premiere consisting of a bright red jacket and black turtleneck.
- Simon Williams was supposed to make his debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where he would have been played by frequent James Gunn collaborator Nathan Fillion. He was meant to be portrayed as a well-established actor who was in the middle of holding a Simon Williams Film Festival, showcasing his films, among them a Tony Stark biopic titled Stark. Not much else was known about the scene, but supposedly it was to occur during the climax when Ego's plant begins to expand and engulf the Earth.
