- “I may be old-fashioned, but back in my day, gorillas weren't led by humans; they were led by other gorillas.”

Uncle Bert is a minor character in Tarzan and The Legend of Tarzan.
Background[]
Uncle Bert is the oldest member of the Tribe of Kerchak, and appears to be the group's main repository of historical knowledge, evidenced by his recollection of the first time Hista attacked the family, many years before Tarzan came along.
Appearances[]
Tarzan[]
Uncle Bert is presented as a background character in scenes when a large number of the family is onscreen.
The Legend of Tarzan[]
"The Enemy Within"[]
Uncle Bert is seen among the gorillas partaking in the Dum-Dum ceremony held to welcome Gobu into the troop.
"The Challenger"[]
Uncle Bert is among the gorillas fleeing from Hista at the start of the episode, and can be heard calling out, "Where's Tarzan when we need him?" Later that evening, he chimes in on Kala's story of the first time the snake attacked, decades earlier. He also opines that Kerhcak's appointment of Tarzan to the status of leader was a mistake, believing that the family ought to be led by another gorilla. As such, he is quick to voice support for Moyo's challenge.
After Moyo's takeover, when the family is crossing a ravine, Uncle Bert is among the last to set foot on the log bridge, along with Flynt and Mungo, when the log starts to slip. Once Moyo catches it, the elder commands the two younger males to keep moving.
Uncle Bert is also seen struggling to get free from the tar pit before Hista strikes again.
