FAQWhat is a PCQI certification?
PCQI stands for Preventive Controls Qualified Individual. PCQI certification confirms that an individual has completed FDA-recognized training in food safety practices and is qualified to develop and oversee Food Safety Plans in compliance with the FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act).
Who needs PCQI training?
PCQI training is required for at least one person at every facility subject to the FDAâs Preventive Controls for Human Food rule. This includes food manufacturers, processors, and packers. If your facility produces human food and falls under FSMA regulations, a certified PCQI is mandatory.
How long does it take to complete the PCQI course?
The PCQI 2.0 training takes approximately 22 hours to complete. This includes the self-paced eLearning in Part 1 (roughly 14 hours) and the 8-hour live Part 2 virtual session.
Is this PCQI training recognized by the FDA?
Yes. Zosiâs PCQI training follows the FDA-standardized curriculum developed by the FSPCA (Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance), and is recognized as meeting the FDAâs requirements for PCQI qualification.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?
Yes. Upon successful completion of both Part 1 and Part 2, you will receive an FSPCA PCQI certificateârecognized by the FDA and valid for FSMA compliance.
How long is PCQI certification valid?
While PCQI certification does not expire, it is strongly recommended that individuals stay current with FSMA updates, industry best practices, and refresher training, especially if regulatory requirements or facility operations change.
