Hannah Kathryn (Emmert) Wilson, 83, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Altercare Lanfair Nursing Facility after a long battle with Dementia. A native of Somerset, Ohio, Hannah was born August 9, 1941, to T. F and Ada Emmert. A 1959 graduate of Holy Trinity School, Hannah married Robert “Bob” Wilson on October 17th of that same year. Their 65-year union was a testament to undying love and commitment. Together they raised four children: Jill (Tom) Sullivan, Jack (Robin) Wilson, Joe (Vickie) Wilson, and Julie Kilbarger. They were her pride and joy and source of infinite happiness.
Besides raising her own children (and any neighborhood kids who popped in), Hannah spent 27 years at Holy Trinity Elementary School helping to raise generations of Somerset students. Her technical job title was school secretary and government clerk, but her real profession was mothering the 100s of children who passed through the school’s doors and mentoring the new, inexperienced teachers that desperately needed a kind word, a helping hand and a good laugh. Her memory is firmly etched in the minds of those who crossed her path and experienced her generosity. In her “spare” time, Hannah enjoyed playing the piano, ceramics, gardening, quilting, Mother’s Club and prayer groups. Her deep faith sustained her through all the challenges of life, and she rejoiced in her close relationship with God.
Hannah was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stevie Emmert; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Tom Decot and her brother Tim’s wife, Ruth Ann. Besides her husband and children, she is survived by grandchildren: Michael Sullivan, Codie (Emily) Wilson, Cade (Kelsey) Wilson, Colton (Natalie) Wilson, Jodie (Aaron) Fromm, Joey, Jordan and Jacob Wilson, Kyle Kilbarger (fiancé Jenn Beyer), Andrew Kilbarger and Claire Kilbarger; great-grandchildren: Morgan and Kaedan Fromm, Otto and Leo Wilson, Margot and August Wilson; brothers: Tom (Eileen) Emmert and Tim Emmert (Karen Hess) and many deeply loved nieces and nephews. She had many special friends in her life, however, Cathy Wolf is one that will always hold a special place in her heart.
We are grateful for the loving care that the staff and nurses at Altercare gave our mom over the last four years. They helped her live with dignity and respect during this long journey.
