Rose M. Van Wey, a cherished matriarch and lifelong resident of Roseville, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at the tender age of 90, surrounded by the love of her family at her granddaughter's home in Zanesville. Born on August 12, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late William and Daisy (Dickerson) Sagle, Rose was a woman whose heart knew no bounds and whose home was a haven of warmth and care. Rose spent her early years working at several local area potteries, but it was her role as a homemaker and caretaker that truly defined her life. She was the loving wife of the late Eddie Van Wey and the devoted mother to Brenda (Kelly) Williams, Norma (Danny) Factor, Barbara Rutledge, Tom (Rebecca) Sagle, and Brenda Van Wey. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Gary (Liz) Zink, Julie (David) Pettit, Misty (Brian) Cain, Jennifer Rutledge, Andrea (Earl) Durst, and Jessica (Chris) Compston, as well as to her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Rose was the sister to Kathleen Taylor and Bertha Ransbottom, and she held a special place in her heart for her many nieces, nephews and her special friend and caretaker, Mary Jones. Rose's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her family. She was an avid lover of bingo and gambling, but above all, she was a wonderful mother whose family was her life. She relished the joy of raising her children and looked forward to preparing Sunday dinner for her family and any hungry mouth in need of a meal. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she spent countless hours tending to them with love and dedication. Rarely would you see her without Brenda, the apple of her eye, by her side. Rose was the quintessential caregiver, always worrying about others being fed and taken care of. She was also known for being a source of transportation for anyone in need, never hesitating to offer a ride or a helping hand. She was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Eddie, her grandchildren Brian Williams and Renee Ihinger, her parents, siblings Rolland, John, Raymond, Ralph, William, Samuel Sagle, and Elizabeth "Maggie" Chappelear and her faithful fur companion, Manny. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00pm, Friday November 15, 2024 at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Roseville, where funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Al Laese officiating. Graveside services will conclude with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Roseville.
