English
The English major builds a solid foundation for student success through integrated learning, research, innovation, and internships. Our courses inculcate clear communication and critical thinking skills required by employers globally. English majors learn to conduct scholarly research; perform creative work; and deliver material in a range of formats, including multimedia, oral presentations, research posters, blogs, business reports, and creative works. They also attend to differences among speakers of English in diverse contexts; nuances of gender, class, race, and ethnicity; and other dimensions of varied identities and cultural experiences. Our graduates pursue careers in such fields as law, business, urban planning, and library science, while others have been especially successful working in such fields as fundraising and development, arts administration, government, journalism, tech corporations, and publishing. Still others have gone on to pursue graduate study in English at Wright State. Choose from a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts, add a minor to your existing degree, or complete a certificate.
