1. Overview

The XML Infoset specification [1] defines a number of Information Items and their properties. The referenced RDF schema [2] is a formal description of the Infoset. We hope that it will be useful as an aid to understanding the Infoset and, perhaps, for validating infosets serialized as RDF instances.

It should be emphasized that this RDF schema is not normative. It is not the only RDF schema that could be constructed for the Infoset, and non-RDF serializations of the Infoset may also be useful.

There is a comment near the top of the schema specifying the version of the XML Infoset specification that it corresponds to. If errors are found in the schema it will be corrected without changing its namespace name. If the schema is changed to correspond to a new version of the Infoset, the namespace name will be changed.
