take up item 1
Josh: Support for this seems
quite strong
... we discussed summary techniques last week. Not a
showstopper.
... : Did we fix the PDF reference last week?
AWK: We agreed upon a change; I don't know whether it has been made yet.
EricE: I'll make the change when we are done reviewing.
<AWK> http://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/tables/multi-directional/
AWK: Want to discuss advice for
multidirection tables.
... THere is disagreement in the examples between simple and
complex tables about the use of scope. Similar table examples
have different markup.
... This leaves me confused.
EricE: multidirectional tables
was originally named "ambiguous tables"
... Basic tables have no scope attributes; the multidimensional
tables are unclear, so scope helps make the relationships
clearer.
Josh: Is the issue that the content could be interpreted in more than one way?
EricE: yes
<Zakim> Joshue, you wanted to ask if these examples are really Multidirectional tables?
Josh: are the tables really multidimensional? THey seem like simple tables to me.
EricE: a better title would be "tables with direction" or "table headings with direction".
AWK: We have lots of categories of tables, but we don't have just regular tables.
<Joshue> Example 3 is good
AWK: Table 2 from
multidirectional tables would be a good example.
... For basic tables, there are some simplifications you can
make.
... I think we will have trouble identifying ambiguous data in
tables.
... I think that would be aclearer message.
Josh: Example 4 seems closest to a multidimensional table.
AWK: if people on the call agree
with my suggestion, I would be happy to draft a suggested set
of changes to send to Eric.
... But I dont want to do this unless there is some
agreement.
EricE: I would be happy to have Andrew do this.
Mike_Elledge: Asks for clarification of the proposal.
AWK: Not restructuring the entire structure. Convert the multi-dimensional section into 2: "normal" tables vs multidimensional tables.
Josh: We will wait to see the revisions before calling the question on this tutorial.

<Joshue> [Text clarification] Restating flash and red flash thresholds for clarity
[Text clarification] Restating flash and red flash thresholds for clarity
The request for clarification came for text in the normative spec. So we cannot change the wording, but could hold any suggestions as errata or input to future versions.
Marc: It was hard to get my head
around, but as I reread it a few times, the note started making
more sense.
... I didn't realize the text was normative at the time.
Other documents online used the word change instead of transition.
Marc: And with that change, Note
2 seemed unnecessary.
... Part of what makes the note difficult is the repeated use
of "relative luminance".

AWK: I think Makoto knows we can't change the document; he is just asking for clarification so that can be sure their translation is correct.
<Joshue> LGR: Make sure Gregg look at this
<Joshue> JOC: I pinged him
AWK: Suggest leaving this open until we get input from Gregg.
<Joshue> [Draft Technique] C31:Using percent for font sizes
<jamesn> http://caniuse.com/#feat=rem
<jamesn> is there a new version of the technique?
LGR: Couldn't read the technique
AWK: I think there is not yet a technique written, just ideas collected.

<David> rssagent, make minutes
Discussion of the benefits of folding the techniques into one of the existing techniques, vs creating a completely new technique.
AWK to help with getting this into github
Resolution: leave open
Josh has comments related to presentation, but not critical for this round of publication.
Josh's comments about Zoom/Magnification asks for some more clarification.
Josh's comments wonder about the distinction between old school AT and bulit in AT on phones.
Kathy: This is a result of a long
discussion, including Gregg. We've gone back and forth on that
quite a bit, which may be why there is still some confusion on
this topic.
... THe feedback from fresh eyes will be helpful to us for
fixing remaining issues in this section.
Michael's comments call out an @@ that needs resolution.
Kathy: we are on a tight deadline for publishing before CSUN.
Looking for final approval between Feb 13 - 17. Need approval from both WCAG and UAAG.
