and transitioned on 12 January 2012 to Federated Social Web Community Group.
The mission of the Federated Social Web Incubator Group, part of the Incubator Activity, is to provide a set of community-driven specifications and a test-case suite for a federated social web.

Come to Federated Social Web Summit Europe. Position papers due May 2nd, although not required to attend, and the workshop is open to all. There will be both a session for presentations on the future of standards for the open social web and an open-space for two days for coding and discussion.
Most of our work happens on our wiki,. The wiki is readable by the public, but in order to make sure all contributions are royalty free, only members can edit the wiki.
Meetings will be once or twice a month, and the date will be announced here. Please see list-serv for announcments of planning the meeting.

The Federated Social Web concept was started in summer 2010 at the first Federated Social Web Summit in Portland, and discussion was originally held over a Google Group. After the Social Web Incubator Group ended, its final reportA Standards-based, Open and Privacy-aware Social Web recommended that the W3C continue to sponsor the Federated Social Web effort in the form of this XG. The cross-platform test-case and standards conversations that have started in the Federated Social Web Google Group should now take place on the W3C public listserv, although the actual development work will no doubt take on the many platform-specific list-servs.
