The 2023 Gotham Award Nominations Are Out and Award Season Is On

“What’s your favorite season?” Alexis Rose of Schitt’s Creek fame once asked her mother Moira. The indelible response? “Awards.” Well, Moira is in luck, because autumn may already be in full effect, but awards season has only just kicked off with the announcement of the 2023 Gotham Award nominations on October 24. The Gotham Awards, a New York-based award show, have a role in award trajectory akin to New Hampshire’s role in the primary elections — mostly notable because it’s the first. They celebrate both film and TV, and, while the Emmys would usually already be distant memories, the fact that they aren’t until January this year means these nominations could be portending success there, too. Big winners this nomination morning include Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers, which received four nominations, and the Sydney Sweeney–starring Reality, which received a surprise Best Feature nom. Below, find the full list of nominations.
