From Andrew Garfield’s emotional tribute to the LGBTQ community, to a performance of Rent’s “Seasons of Love” by students from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Drama Department, to banter with SpongeBob, Sunday night’s Tony Awards felt equal parts cathartic and entertaining. Ya girl Laurie Metcalf took home Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play, while Nathan Lane choked up thanking his husband during his Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play acceptance speech. Meanwhile, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, Parts One and Two and The Band’s Visit were deemed this year’s Best Play and Best Musical, respectively. You can read the full list of winners below.
