12 Years a Slave Sweeps the Independent Spirit Awards

Saturday’s Independent Spirit ceremony (also known as the last award show before the Oscars) yielded few surprise winners. As with the Golden Globes earlier this year, 12 Years a Slave took home Best Feature, Best Director for Steve McQueen, and Best Supporting Female for Lupita Nyong’o. Cate Blanchett won another Best Female Lead for Blue Jasmine (and even uttered Woody Allen’s name in her speech) and the duo from Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, won the Best Male Lead and Best Supporting Male, respectively, once again. Here’s hoping we hear “All right all right all right” tonight, too.
