The X Factor may not be the monster, Idol-size hit Fox was hoping for, but it’s doing well enough to have earned itself a second season. Simon Cowell’s latest musical competition show, which is in the midst of its first season (read Dave Holmes’s very funny recaps if you can’t bring yourself to actually watch the show), will be back. Not only will Cowell, Paul Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid continue to have a platform to express their musical insight and/or unhelpful but enthusiastic semi-thoughtlets, Fox continues to have one big tentpole musical reality show — X Factor or Idol — on its schedule almost all of the time.
