Dad's Accomplishment Rankings After Week 12

Last week I posted my first ‘Accomplishment Ranking' for the 2024 season. (https://www.uwdawgpound.com/2024/11/13/24296058/dads-accomplishment-rankings-after-week-11) There is a description in last week's FanPost of the methodology for my rankings.

I've updated the rankings after the week 12 games. (I have not included the games played since Sunday.)

The top 18 teams in the CFP are all in my rankings, although several are in different places. The biggest difference is SMU which I have tied at #3 and is #13 the CFP. While SMU doesn't have a win over a top-25 team, they have wins over 3 wins over teams that are getting votes in the other 2 polls. Tennessee is another team that has a big difference-and in the opposite direction. They do have the win over Alabama, but no other wins over teams with a winning record, plus that loss to Georgia. And Georgia is up much higher in my poll because they have 3 wins over top-25 teams and their only losses have also been to top-25 teams.

I have 5 teams in my rankings that aren't in the CFP. The first is Kansas State, which has wins over Colorado and Tulane and losses to 2 top-25 teams (BYU and Arizona State) plus a loss to Houston.

Army is one of the teams that is in the CFP that I don't have in my top 25 (I have them at #38). They are 9-0, but have played just one team with a winning record (East Carolina at 6-4). Their game against Notre Dame this weekend should tell us if they deserve to be a top-25 team.

I have Tulane at #32. They have played a much harder schedule than Army so far including some wins over teams with winning records, but they lost to the 2 P4 teams that they faced (Kansas State and Oklahoma).

I have Missouri at #26, so that isn't that far off from their CFP rank (#23). Similarly, I have Illinois at #28 and UNLV at #31.

UW moved up to #36 in my rankings after their win over UCLA. They continue to be hampered because none of their wins have been over teams with winning records, but helped a little because all of the teams that they lost to do have winning records-including 3 who have a combine 3 losses (WSU, Indiana, and Penn State).

The final note is that I am surprised that there are so many ties in my rankings this week. I have some ideas on how to break them, but I have not had the time to implement anything because I have a lot of other stuff going on in my life at the moment. Last year it sorted out by the end, so I'm hoping that will be the case again this year.
