Leaked documents have unequivocally proven that the United Kingdom has been running a large-scale and well-funded program to plaster the Western media with anti-Russian propaganda and Twitter wants you to know that these materials were obtained through hacking. Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago, the connections between American Big Tech and these sundry programs were... Read More
There has been a large leak of documents from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) showing that the UK is sponsoring and providing editorial guidance to anti-Kremlin journalists, media organizations, and YouTubers as part of a £100 million plan to "tackle Kremlin disinformation" during 2018-22. Their aim, forthrightly stated, is to "[weaken] the Russian... Read More
This is how the final UK - EU deal was characterized by Alexander Mercouris in a live stream with Alex Christoforou at The Duran. Main points to take away: The UK stays in the free trade (zero tariff) zone with the EU, but in so doing remains strongly bound by EU regulations (with the latter... Read More
Dr. Priyamvada Gopal is (was) a Reader in "postcolonial literature" and "critical race studies" at Churchill College in the University of Cambridge. But then, a couple of days ago, she made a politically controversial and highly racially charged statement: She is no longer a Reader. Because the day afterwards, she was made a full Professor:... There is one, up until now relatively Sinophile, major European nation that will likely receive a massive influx of Chinese immigrants over the next decade - possibly as many a million - and radically transform as a consequence. I am talking, of course, about Britain. While there are currently 300,000 active BN(O)'s in Hong Kong,... Read More
There are at least many views on the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of lockdowns. The balance of the evidence suggests that they do work, though the effect is confounded in complex ways by people spontaneously engaging in risk-reducing (but GDP-lowering) behavior. Be that as it may, the point is becoming moot, since they are ending across... Read More
Yesterday, Western journalists were like: This referred to the original state news agency RIA article, which stated that Boris Johnson was hospitalized and would be put under a ventilator. And earlier today, the British government were like: Business Insider: Boris Johnson's spokesman accuses Russia of spreading 'disinformation' after Russian state media claims the prime minister... I don't have much original to say about it, and what I do have to say has already been said at greater length (e.g. Guillaume Durocher), but still, as the second most important happening last month, it behoves me to make at least a few brief comments. * There should not be any delusions that... My latest trip to London was to visit the infamous "psychology conference"... and, ofc, to debrief with my MI6 handler. I also used the opportunity to tick off many of the last big museums in London that I had yet to visit, as well as Brighton and St. Albans. Previous posts: England 2016 (London, Oxford,... Read More
In my autistic drive for completion - at any rate from the end 2016, when I shared my impressions of London (Portsmouth, Oxford) in this blog's first ever Open Thread before repatriating to Russia - the next couple of posts will be about my two visits to Blighty since. Why London? Well, I need to... Read More
There are reports just coming in that Iran has seized 1 2 3 (?!) British-linked oil tankers in the Persian Gulf. This is in response to analogous British piracy off Gibraltar a few weeks ago. Anyhow I suppose we will soon see how special the "special relationship" between the US and the UK really is.... Read More
I knew the Alt Lite was a shit show, but this is "wow just wow" territory. Here is the expose by Milo Yiannopoulos on the Alt Lite's video editors Caolan Robertson and George Llewelyn-John: ‣ Stole Bitcoin worth $20,000 from Tommy Robinson, while the activist was in jail, to fund their jet-set lifestyle ‣ Booked... Trump is in London. The Britbongs aren't taking it well: . The London Museum apparently wants to add the Trump baby blimp to its exhibits. London Mayor Sadiq Khan - having presided over a large rise in violent crime and said that terrorism is "part and parcel of life in a global city" - has... Read More
... has seemingly occured in the blink of an eye, and has given way to an emerging four party system. There was one brief period during the early 2010s when it looked like the Lib Dems might finally break out as the third "party of power." However, that uptick ended up as a damp squib... Read More
How shall we put this... royally cucked?
From a recent report by the arch-neocon Henry Jackson Society: Those Russian informants would presumably be the 52% of Russians in Britain who voted for Puter in 2018. Congratulations to the Dark Lord of the Kremlin, Who Sees and Hears All, on raising this percentage from 28% in 2012. This was sarcasm, BTW. You would... Read More
"London is always a good idea." Observed recently in a furniture shop. Presumably for those Russians who are not in the 600 or so who are both rich and Anglophile enough to send their children off to Hogwarts every year. Anyhow, Anglophilia is extremely prevalent in Russia. What's interesting is that it is if anything... Read More
Transcript here. On a more serious note, this is a PR disaster. Even Margarita Simonyan herself visibly realizes as the interview goes on. Their tourism story reaches levels of implausibility that should not even be possible: We are just heterosexual business partners - but no, we won't go into any details; our first sightseeing tour... So one of my commenters keeps urging me to write something about the Skripal case, even hinting at a conspiracy to keep "bad news" from Unz.com denizens. I was going to briefly mention in my weekly Open Thread, but not anything more, because I don't see this news are either important or unexpected. But given... Read More
Q: Is it true that there is freedom of speech in the United Kingdom, just like in the USA? A: In principle, yes. In the USA, you can stand in front of the White House in Washington, DC, and yell, "Down with Trump!", and you will not be punished. Equally, you can also stand in... Read More
Wiltshire pair 'poisoned by nerve agent' Alexander Mercouris has written at length about the outsized impact of British individuals, especially in the intelligence services, on pushing the Russiagate conspiracy theory to annul Trump's stated desire for rapprochement with Russia. With the Trump-Putin summit in Finland coming up on July 16, the timing is certainly impeccable.... Read More
So Tommy Robinson is getting sent to prison for 13 months for standing outside a courtroom where a grooming case trial is proceeding and talking about said grooming case. Or, more specifically, breaking the conditions of a suspended sentence, which he had in turn gotten for reporting on another grooming case, which barred him from... Read More
On May 6, there was a big free speech march through Central London jointly organized by the Democratic Football Lads Alliance and Veterans Against Terrorism. Many of the big names in the British Alt Lite were attending, so I decided to show up myself. (I appear in the sidelines a few times in this video... Read More
So it looks like the British reaction to The Skripal Affair is assuming very serious proportions, especially with the most recent allegations that the nerve agent in question was Novichok. (Incidentally, it is a gas so potent - an order of magnitude more so than VX - that carpet bombing a middle-sized city with it... Read More
Since nobody knows anything, as Alexander Mercouris points out, I haven't bothered following this closely. Still, I suppose it's big enough that I should post something about it. This comment from for-the-record seems not entirely implausible: What seems eminently clear is that whoever did it knew that this would be attributed to the Russians, and... Read More
1,000 children may have been victims in Britain's biggest ever child abuse scandal I haven't even heard of this city before this. Wiki says it has 150,000 people. Anyhow, the really important thing is that British police reacted quickly and operatively to not allow a couple of right-wing chicks into the UK. I don't know... Read More
Steven Pinker - Enlightenment Now [buy; don't]. Rating: 1/10. My impression on getting through a third of Enlightenment Now is that it was essentially a summary of Better Angels, followed by running commentary on the graphs from Our World in Data and Gapminder. But I don't begrudge him for that, since I agree with him... Read More
London Student: Exposed: London’s eugenics conference and its neo-Nazi links Some background: This scandal broke out when Toby Young, a conservative British political figure with a colorful history of Twitter controversies, was appointed to a government board on education - and removed almost instantaneously, after this story broke in The London Student, and was subsequently... Article 50 has been triggered in the UK, after many merry months of triggerings of... another sort. There has been a lot of wishful thinking in British liberal circles that some way would be found to circumvent Brexit. Anyhow. The K/D ratio was pretty lame. Four dead, including the attacker, who was put down by one of the three armed policemen in all London. He could have at least used a heavy truck like his brother in arms in Nice. Success in terrorism, as in all other walks of life, is g loaded.... Read More

Unless there is a truly stunning reversal soon, a victory for Remain is increasingly looking to be mathematically impossible. England outside London is voting 60% Leave. The results for all 650 constituencies in, time to make some brief observations. (1) Almost everyone was wrong (including myself). About Anatoly Karlin

I am a blogger, thinker, and businessman in the SF Bay Area. I’m originally from Russia, spent many years in Britain, and studied at U.C. Berkeley.

One of my tenets is that ideologies tend to suck. As such, I hesitate about attaching labels to myself. That said, if it’s really necessary, I suppose “liberal-conservative neoreactionary” would be close enough.

Though I consider myself part of the Orthodox Church, my philosophy and spiritual views are more influenced by digital physics, Gnosticism, and Russian cosmism than anything specifically Judeo-Christian.
