Interesting results of some recent polling: 72% Serbs think Russia's influence in Serbia is positive (+11% relatove to 2017), while 7% think it's bad. 87% think China's influence is positive (+30%). 32% think US influence in Serbia is good, while 59% think it's bad. Of greater relevance, perhaps: 24% think EU influence is good, whereas... Read More
I am not quite sure whether this classifies as a zrada (defeat/betrayal), but it is surely not a peremoga (victory) - to borrow the terms often used by Ukrainian nationalists, but really applicable to anything. As with Russian nationalists, the Serb nationalists fall into two camps regarding the mettle of their leader, some passionately hate... Read More

Underreported in the Western media, in the past few weeks there have been massive protests in Montenegro, involving as many as 150,000 people (that is, a quarter of its population). What are they protesting about? Late last December, the Montenegrin parliament approved an EU-supported law allowing the state to seize church property in the absence... Read More
I am by no means a Serbia expert, and have to rely on other, more informed people - e.g., a couple of Serbian nationalist acquaintances - to tell me what is really going on there. Anyhow, here's the critical part which they are all agreed upon. Despite his "reputation" in the West, Vucic is not... Read More
Long live the European court, the most humane court in the world! /s That is why seven times as many Croat and more than ten times as many Albanian war crimes suspects, in percentage terms relative to Serbs, were acquitted by the Hague Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, with Radovan Karadzic being just its... The purpose of NATO has always been to keep the Americans in, the Russians out, and the Germans down, according to its own first Secretary General. If any one leg of this tripod fails - the whole thing comes tumbling down. At least as the imperialist, anti-national, anti-Orthodox, and Russophobic project it was always construed... Read More

About Anatoly Karlin

I am a blogger, thinker, and businessman in the SF Bay Area. I’m originally from Russia, spent many years in Britain, and studied at U.C. Berkeley.

One of my tenets is that ideologies tend to suck. As such, I hesitate about attaching labels to myself. That said, if it’s really necessary, I suppose “liberal-conservative neoreactionary” would be close enough.

Though I consider myself part of the Orthodox Church, my philosophy and spiritual views are more influenced by digital physics, Gnosticism, and Russian cosmism than anything specifically Judeo-Christian.
