Recent paper (h/t @whyvert). Kim, Yuri, and James J. Lee. 2018. “The Genetics of Human Fertility.” Current Opinion in Psychology 27 (August): 41–45. There's basically two classes of people having more kids: Interesting to see who will win out by the time of the Age of Malthusian Industrialism. (Certainly the former would be more successful... In my third post on the Age of Malthusian Industrialism, I suggested: Happily, it looks like some people have already started doing that. Barban, Nicola et al. (2017) - Genome-wide analysis identifies 12 loci influencing human reproductive behavior Here's a very interesting graph from the paper:
Gwern in a review of Bradshaw's Cat Sense: ...Thus, the widespread adoption of early neutering by the most responsible cat owners risks pushing the domestic cat's genetics back gradually toward the wild, away from their current domesticated state. A study that I conducted in 1999 suggests that such extrapolation cannot be dismissed as science fiction.... Read More
How do you talk about dysgenic trends in intelligence without coming off as bespectacled old geezer in a tweed suit with a pipe in one hand and a leatherbound copy of The Rising Tide of Color Against White World-Supremacy in the other*? We need something hip, cool. Everyone knows about the FLynn Effect. I suggest... Read More
What the commenter Cicerone wrote in response to the study about dysgenic decline in Germany. The findings come rather surprizing to me and I am always sceptical of using these low N studies to make out trends. Using fertility by education data from the Wittgenstein database, my estimate for the intrinsic IQ loss over the... Read More
Surviving political repressions in Communist regimes is one of those rare problems that don't seem to be at all g loaded. When someone like spandrell talks of "IQ shredders" he refers to the role of modern cities as fertility vortices for society's best and brightest. But in the 20th century those shredders could be all... Read More
Kong, Augustine et al. - 2016 - Selection against variants in the genome associated with educational attainment This paper makes the case that there has been a decline in the prevalence of genes increasing propensity for more education (POLYEDU) in Iceland from 1910-1975. Here are some of the key points: The main mechanism was greater... Read More
Now that we have established that immigration is not much good, let's take a look at another component undergirding our transition to Idiocracy - the differential fertility rates of different IQ groups. This is a highly contentious topic, and not just on account of the usual political kurfuffles, but also on real disagreements as to... Read More
The Flynn effect has reversed in terms of spatial IQ, according to a big recent meta-study by Jakob Pietschnig and Georg Gittler. James Thompson has a good summary in Deutschland über alles, dann unter allen? Below is the version of the graph that has been corrected for age, sex, and sample time. The all time... Read More

About Anatoly Karlin

I am a blogger, thinker, and businessman in the SF Bay Area. I’m originally from Russia, spent many years in Britain, and studied at U.C. Berkeley.

One of my tenets is that ideologies tend to suck. As such, I hesitate about attaching labels to myself. That said, if it’s really necessary, I suppose “liberal-conservative neoreactionary” would be close enough.

Though I consider myself part of the Orthodox Church, my philosophy and spiritual views are more influenced by digital physics, Gnosticism, and Russian cosmism than anything specifically Judeo-Christian.
