James Duane Brown, age 82, of Greensboro, AL passed away at his home November 2, 2024. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

A graveside service will be held November 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, in Greensboro, AL with Ralph Burrell officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Greensboro Chapel directing.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents Cameron and Evie Brown; his wife of 58 years Linda Tucker Brown; his sister, Yvonne Shewbart; brother Larry Brown; and two nephews, Richard and Robert Webb.

He is survived by two sons Jimmy Brown (Jennifer), Scott Brown (Tammy) and daughter Tami Henry (Danny); his sister, Geraldine Matherson; and 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

James was born in Bexar, AL on November 21st, 1941. He later moved to Tuscaloosa and was a 1960 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High. After high school he married Linda Tucker Brown they moved to Aliceville, AL and later to Greensboro, AL where they lived for 40 yrs. He was an entrepreneur his adult life. He loved a convenience store, gas pump and any beach side condo. Most of all he loved the Lord and was a devoted member to the Greensboro Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Eagles’ Wing, 12379 Eagles’ Wings Drive, Coker, AL 35452 or RISE School, 600 Johnny Stallings Dr. Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 in honor of a very special great-grand, Anne Griffin Thomas.
