If you’d normally hit up a bar

The Strip
Long before the food hall trend took over Las Vegas, Eataly knew how to do dining counters right, featuring an array of authentic Italian bites among a series of bars for wine and cocktails. Located along the Strip, Eataly is a great spot for small-production wines, 19 Spritz variations, and amaros with interactive events like festivals, classes, and special dinners at two sit-down concepts: La Pizza e La Pasta and the more formal Toscana Ristorante. Some of the food counters were recently revamped, featuring new options for meatballs, burgers, handmade pasta, and sustainable seafood. Then again, nothing beats fresh, hand-pulled mozzarella with a Negroni on the side.

Multiple locations
The Royal Crawl has two self-guided drinking tours to soak in the alcohol while also soaking in the sights of Las Vegas. The Downtown version at the Fremont Street Experience begins at Overhang and Mega Bar at Circa, continues at Bar Prohibition inside the Golden Gate, then wraps up at Bar Canada and Longbar at The D. You may even encounter a flair bartender along the way. A Strip crawl takes guests down The LINQ promenade with drinks at I Love Sugar, Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club, Tilted Kilt, Flour & Barley, and AmeriCAN. Go at your own pace while following the Royal Crawl app with a choice of beer, wine, or cocktail at each stop. Each drink earns a digital playing card with a prize for the day’s best hand.

Sips and Snacks at a Wine Bar

Multiple locations
Las Vegas has one of the best wine bars of the country (with a James Beard award nomination to back it up) in Garagiste, a staple in the heart of the Downtown Arts District. But there's a new wave of vino joints throughout the valley to explore. Crush Pad Wine Bar recently expanded hours to seven days a week with a weekday happy hour 3–6 pm, tasting classes at 3 pm every other Saturday, and wine club events at least once a month. No matter when you visit, the menu divides wines-by-the-glass as "classic" or "curious" (and you can't go wrong with either category). Wineaux at UnCommons is the latest concept by celebrity chef Shawn McClain, featuring shareable small plates with wines that are hard to find elsewhere in Vegas. The lounge has been hosting popular Wine Tasting Wednesday with sips and bites packaged together for a reasonable price.

If you prefer to go out for dinner

Downtown Arts District
The make-your-own sourdough craze of the pandemic lockdown is over, but a love for baking bread continues. With that in mind, a new class for the gluten-tolerant is in full swing at 1228 Main—a restaurant and bakery in the Arts District that doubles as an under-the-radar bread and pastry commissary for Wolfgang Puck's Las Vegas operation. The bread-making classes take place twice a month with attendees tackling anything from cherry walnut to focaccia and authentic French baguettes. The price is typically $60 per person, and each session ends with a light snack and glass of wine. Don't hesitate to book a reservation—the classes tend to sell out well in advance.

The Strip
Bruno Mars and Wayne Newton aren't the only ones with a residency in Las Vegas. Chef Alon Shaya brings a spin-off of his acclaimed Denver restaurant Safta to the Strip with a one-year "culinary residency" at the Wynn. Safta 1964 takes over the dinner hours at Jardin, presenting a unique combination of Mediterranean, Israeli, and Lebanese cuisine with poolside views, floral decor, and splashes of pink with music at just the right volume. Begin with the platter of dips and spreads, which arrive at the table in a vintage-style ceramic serving tray with warm wheat pita bread and the rare feat of making lima beans not just tolerable, but delicious. The tagine, a coconut milk stew with bright chunks of de-shelled red crab meat and couscous, is also worth sharing. Just save room for the tableside Jelleaux cart for dessert. You'll never look at gelatin the same way again, layered with yogurt and fruit in an elaborate presentation.

The Strip
The Savory Bites & Neon Lights tour is a sky-high way to plan a perfect night on the town in Las Vegas. The evening begins with a Lip Smacking Foodie Tour food crawl of three top restaurants on the Vegas Strip featuring at least 12 dishes. You’ll enjoy signature recipes with no lines, reserved seating, and everything included (so no tips to worry about). Upgrade for drink pairings. After the food crawl wraps up, you and your date will be driven to the Maverick Helicopters terminal for a 12–15 minute ride above the Strip with incredible views of colorful Vegas landmarks.

If you love a good show

The Strip
Seeing a concert at the Sphere is freaking fantastic, but tickets tend to sell out almost immediately. If you missed U2's groundbreaking 40-date residency that opened the high-tech venue, here's the next best thing. "V-U2: An Immersive Concert Film" is a condensed, 82-minute recreation of the concert, co-directed by The Edge himself. The technology is way better than any hologram stuff, using crystal-clear, high-definition, 3D-like video of the band alongside the jaw-dropping special effects from the bona-fide residency. Sometimes you'll have to remind yourself you're watching a movie and not the actual band, especially after a couple drinks. And the music itself sounds almost exactly the same as the live show—with a few vibrations in your seat as a bonus.

The Strip
Everything old is new again at DiscoShow, the latest interactive production by Spiegelworld (the company behind hits like Absinthe and Atomic Saloon). Set in the dance-driven 1970s, DiscoShow takes audience participation to new heights with boogie-era moves taught on a dancefloor. Much of the decor is inspired by vintage New York, featuring a replica subway and adjacent old-school diner for the ultimate dinner-and-show experience. You can also mingle in the cocktail lounge and discuss how trippy the whole thing is.

If you like competition

Town Square
Mini-golf is making a comeback in Las Vegas. Practice your putt and pick-up lines with equal enthusiasm at TopStroke, which opened right before summer at Town Square and counts Tiger Woods as an investor. The concept is a bar and restaurant with two 16-hole miniature golf courses that skip the gimmicks and cheesy windmills for a refined layout of trees and artificial turf. Yes, you're encouraged to enjoy your booze while you play. Unwind afterwards with a treat from the ice cream counter or drinks on a rooftop patio deck.

The Strip
AREA15 often feels like one giant playground, and that's especially true at Asylum, a bar for beer and boozy slushies with vintage video games, pool tables, and pinball. Buy $20 of tokens and receive $5 worth for free. Roam the ground of AREA15 and test your competitive spirit further with virtual augmented-reality dodgeball, Laser Maze, and Dueling Axes.

The Strip
Alcohol and sharp objects might seem like two things you don't want to mix, but Flight Club finds a way to make it work. The secluded lounge allows visitors to toss darts around in an environment that's more sophisticated and stylish than your average English pub, with digital screens making it easy to keep score. The 16,000-square-foot space is beautifully decorated with Strip views and a 27-seat bar modeled after a vintage carousel. Even the dart boards are made of oak for an old-school touch. The lounge winds around corridors and corners with 20 bays (or "oches") for groups as small as two (for a private date night) and large as 12 (to bring a few friends along). Upgrade the experience with beer buckets, cookie towers, prime beef sliders, and other options off the menu.

If you want to feel cultured

The Strip
There’s an extra-special way to see “O” by Cirque du Soleil, a spectacle with swimmers, divers, and acrobats in and around a pool filled with more than a million gallons of water at the Bellagio. Sign up for the La Grande Expérience, which includes a pre-show reception with champagne and hors d’oeuvres, a meet-and-greet photo session with performers, and seats inside your own intimate VIP suite with a sweet treat, cocktail service, and even more champagne. You'll see how the production helped the Bellagio change the way we look at Vegas when the resort opened more than 25 years ago.

Northwest
The term “hidden gem” gets tossed around loosely these days, but the Rita Deanin Abbey Museum is a wonderful surprise, hiding in plain sight near Lone Mountain in the Northwest Valley. It’s a beautifully built structure next to the home of the late Rita Deanin Abbey, an artist inspired by Southwest environments. It was built about 40 years ago when there was little more than desert in the area, and dozens of pieces are now on display. The variety is impressive, with paintings, sketches, sculptures, and more, all created by one woman over a lifetime. Make sure to step outside, where large-format works command attention near a desert garden. The showstopper is a 40-foot-long semi-circle of polyester resin and fiberglass that looks similar to stained glass and was commissioned by the original Temple Beth Sholom.

Downtown
One great photo op deserves another. The Neon Museum, where historic Vegas signs and marquees are preserved and restored, has a portrait hour for guests to bring their own photographer for a professional shoot in the North Gallery. It could be just the thing to celebrate an engagement or elevate your relationship. If you want to simply hang around and absorb the history, that’s cool too. The North Gallery is also home to Brilliant!, an evening show that brings vintage casino signs back to life with sound, video, and immersive projection mapping.
