There Is Only One Ski-Through McDonald's in the World and It's Here

Sadly, it's outside the U.S.

It has recently come to my attention that a McSki—which is exactly what it sounds like, or a McDonald's on the slopes—not only exists as a real place to get your favorite shoestring fries, but it also uniquely exists.

That's right, there is only one McSki in the world, and it is located outside of the US. You have to travel all the way to SkiStar resort in Lindvallen, Sweden to indulge in McDonald's ski-friendly location, which is reportedly only open in the winter, during ski season (duh).

But its long-haul-flight distance can be a good thing. If you're like me, you could plan a weeklong ski-trip around it, and it will probably end up costing you less than a vacation on the slopes of the same length in, say, Park City, Utah. (For reference, a one-day skipass in Lindvallen can cost you as low as roughly $42 in December, depending on the day, versus $123 for Park City via Epic Pass).

Or if you're like this particular TikToker—who is arguably closer to Sweden than I am—you could make your dad drive for six hours to get you there.

"Literally the best feature to a slope," said Olivia Foley, the TikTok poster, in one of the comments.

Its coolest feature is that you can, in fact, ski-thru like you would drive-thru. Except, instead of picking up your order at the window by rolling up in your car, you'd be gliding in with your skis or snowboard. How, you ask? Exactly like this:

The McSki has reportedly been operating for years (some say it's been open since 1996), and it offers the same menu you would find at any other McDonalds in Sweden, with all the same seasonal or yearly updates (including your beloved McCafé hot chocolate with whipped cream).

With McDonald's being such a huge American staple, it would only make sense that a McSki existed in an all-American ski resort paradise like Park City, Utah; Aspen, Colorado; or even Lake Tahoe, California. But is that even in the plans? Thrillist reached out to McDonald's for answers and hopefully, they are positive ones.

One thing is for sure. If a McSki does open in the US, their ice cream machine better be working—I'm not passing up the opportunity to have a McFlurry on the slopes.
