The opportunity to work with your family isn’t as common as it once was. But for two Atlanta-based landscapers, carrying on their family tradition is something they take pride in. Brothers Donald Jordan and David Jones are fourth-generation landscapers, carrying on their great-grandfather’s passion through Jordan’s Legacy Landscaping.
They Love Working Together
Donald and David love that they get to work together every day at their family-owned business. They love what they do, and getting work alongside each other is a bonus they know most people don’t experience at work.
They Followed Their Grandfather’s Footsteps
For Donald and David, their grandfather was a major influence in their lives. He loved landscaping and went to work every day, working hard to keep his customers’ yards looking neat, tidy, and colorful. Donald keeps a photo of his grandfather hanging on the wall at home, reminding him to get up and do what needs to be done.
Each of Them Has His Strengths
Both Donald and David have strengths. David says that Donald is a jack of all trades when it comes to landscaping, but he can roll pine straw like no one else. Donald says that David is an expert pruner, but design and freestyling are also some of his best skills.
The Customer is Always Right (Unless They’re Freestyling)
Donald and David are known to freestyle with their landscape design. The client might have an idea, but once these two get started, they often devise plans and designs the customer never dreamed of. David also says that customers always love their ideas.
Details Matter
For Jordan’s Legacy Landscaping, details matter. Plants that provide a pop of color and require low maintenance are customer favorites, but Grandpa Jordan loved shaping and pruning topiaries and planting Easter beds full of tulips. Donald and David pay homage to him every day.
