Career events
Meet us at one of our upcoming events
All the great minds of our time have one thing in common: They have to eat something now and then.
think-cell takes this need very seriously, which is why it came up with the EAT++ series of career events. We regularly invite computer science students to talk over a meal in a relaxed atmosphere. We also support conferences on C++, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Graphics and give technical talks or complete technical courses on topics our developers know by heart.
We decided to do this, because we are constantly on the lookout for new software developers. We are very interested in emerging talent and will be happy to stay in touch with you over the longer term. Even if you have no specific plans for your professional future, we would still like to get to know you. And we think we can do that best when meeting in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.

ISO C++ Meeting in Wroclaw, Poland 2024
November 18, 2024
This November, the ISO C++ committee will meet in Wroclaw, Poland. Our Software Engineer, Jonathan Müller, will be attending once again. He shares his expectations: “This will be the last opportunity to add major features to C++26 and is the second-to-last meeting before the general feature freeze in the spring. I expect a focus to be on reflection (hopefully adopting some of my changes from https://wg21.link/P3429), contracts, and the ongoing discussions about making C++ safer. I also really hope to see progress on pattern matching.”
We’re proud to be part of the standardization efforts and are looking forward to meeting in beautiful Wroclaw soon.
Meeting C++ in Berlin, Germany 2024
November 14, 2024
We’re excited to sponsor and attend Meeting C++, that’s taking place in Berlin (and online) between the 14th and 16th of November. Meeting C++ is a conference organized by the independent Meeting C++ platform, aimed at supporting the C++ community. think-cell has been partnering with Meeting C++ since 2012, and we’re delighted to continue our collaboration. This year, we are sponsoring the videos of the conference. Two of our speakers are also presenting their talks, and we’ll have a booth setup on-site.
Our Senior Software Engineer, Sebastian Theophil will present his talk “Classes C++23 style” where he’ll show the best C++23 practices to define common types of classes. The talk will cover the spaceship operator, conditionally explicit conversions, C++26 contracts, reference-qualified member functions, and deducing this. By starting from common use cases, the audience will learn not only how to use these C++ features, but also when to use them.
Software Engineer Jonathan Müller is presenting “An (In-)Complete Guide to C++ Object Lifetimes”. The audience will learn about the rules for object creation and destruction, and when it is safe to form pointers and references to an object. They will also learn about advanced functions like std::launder
, std::bit_cast
, and std::start_lifetime_as
.
Three members of our development team will be on-site at the conference to network with the C++ community, tell participants about our C++ Developer role, the engineering team’s ways of working, and answer any questions attendees may have.

C++ Lecture at TU Munich, Germany 2024
November 4, 2024
In the beginning of November, we will return to TU Munich to deliver our own C++ lecture to the computer science students. This lecture marks a new milestone in our partnership with TU Munich, where we have previously participated in the IKOM career fair and hosted our EAT++ lecture and Summer Parties.
TUM is the only technical university in Germany to continuously retain the University of Excellence status since 2006. Its Department of Computer Science is one of the largest teaching and research institutions for Informatics in the country.
In his talk, "A Deep Dive into Dispatching Techniques," Jonathan Müller, a think-cell Software Engineer, will discuss assembly, optimizations, and profiling with the students.
At the core of an interpreter is a loop that iterates over instructions and executes them in order. This requires dispatching: based on the current instruction, it needs to select different code. A fast interpreter requires a fast instruction dispatcher, but so does everything else that needs to switch over a fixed set of different options.
This talk investigates various dispatching techniques, from simple switch statements to jump tables. We'll look at performance analysis tools, benchmarks, and lots and lots of assembly code, in order to learn ways to trick the compiler into generating the assembly code that we actually want.
The students will primarily learn about efficient dispatching techniques and their relative performance, but also about profiling, benchmarks, and CPU features like instruction caches and branch predictors.
We look forward to sharing our expertise and strengthening our collaboration through this technical exchange.
C++ Workshop for Dean's List students at RWTH Aachen, Germany 2024
October 29, 2024
This October, think-cell will return to RWTH Aachen for a special event – our very own workshop for Dean’s List students. The Dean's List recognizes the top five percent of students from each course of study, aiming to identify and continuously support outstanding students early on.
RWTH is known for its long-standing excellence in computer science education and research, ranked 50th globally and second among German universities by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.
"Aspects of Professional Software Engineering," a specialized workshop by think-cell, will be led by Senior Software Engineer Sebastian Theophil. The workshop is limited to just 20 students, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. During the workshop, we want to show the students aspects of software development that are rarely taught at university. The code we write — unlike the code that students write for their assignments — will be read and changed for years, if not decades. It must be easily understandable and ideally correct.
Our workshop will consist of two parts: in the first we want to show the students how to write good code. We have prepared a couple of example problems and exercises that the participants will solve. We will discuss the solutions and find out what constitutes a good and canonical solution. In the second part we will develop a complex feature. We will play the part of one of our customers and tell the participants about a problem we are having. Together they will develop a solution.
After the workshop, Sebastian and the students will continue networking over dinner, joined by Jonathan Müller, Software Engineer and RWTH Aachen Dean’s List alumnus, and Anastasia from our tech recruiting team, who will be there to answer any questions about working at think-cell.
We are excited about the opportunity to meet RWTH’s top students and collaborate on building solutions together. Aachen, here we come!
