This is like, the 70th night at Freddy’s.

There were sister locations, help was wanted (a couple of times), then there was a security breach. Now the next calamity in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series involves mimics. During the PlayStation State of Play presentation, Steel Wool Productions showed off a first look at gameplay for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic. Find those mimics and dodge murderous animatronics for minimum wage when Secret of the Mimic launches June 13th.

The live-action How to Train Your Dragon could have made a great cartoon.

DreamWorks’ plan to make a live-action How to Train Your Dragon adaptation has never sounded like a great idea, and the movie’s new trailer really makes it seem like the studio might have been better off keeping this franchise strictly animated. The film hits theaters on June 13th.

What we do as shadows.

It has been a good long while since Marvel debuted a villain with some real pizzaz to them, but the shots of Thunderbolts’ big bad turning people into shadows in the movie’s latest trailer looks promising as hell.

You know what’s better than one Onimusha?

Two.

During Capcom’s February spotlight, the company announced that it’s working on yet another Onimusha game. But don’t expect a companion to the next entry in the franchise announced during last year’s Game Awards. Instead, a remaster of Oniumusha 2: Samurai’s Remaster is on the way. You’ll be able to play this remaster sooner too as it’s expected on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this year.

Rug pullers better watch out.

Though Hollywood’s newfound obsession with making horror movies revolving around killer consumer tech is getting a little tired, Cold Wallet — director Cutter Hodierne’s new thriller about a group of armed Redditors looking for revenge after losing everything in a crypto scam — looks pretty legit. The movie hits theaters and digital platforms of February 28th.

Hope you like secrets.

Apple’s mystery-packed thriller Surface returns on February 21st, and the second season’s first trailer promises — you guessed it — even more mysteries.

M3gan 2.0 trailer teases the killer android’s return in June.

After a few delays, Universal and Blumhouse’s sequel to their $180 million grossing viral hit about a best-friend-AI-bot-gone-bad is scheduled to premiere on June 27th, 2025. Now the first teaser trailer has dropped on the night of the Grammy Awards with an assist from Chappell Roan’s song “Femininomenon.”

In M3gan 2.0 the robot will be resurrected to do battle with a military-grade spinoff based on her original tech, and presumably some new TikTok dances.

You can’t make everyone happy.

But in Is This Seat Taken? you can certainly try. The adorable puzzler has players trying to seat people in just the right spot, whether they’re in a movie theater or a crowded bus, careful to avoid others who are too noisy or smelly. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but the game’s coming to PC and mobile, with a Steam demo available on February 10th.

It takes two (again).

Hazelight is showing off its next co-op game Split Fiction with a fresh trailer, which includes a dramatic split-screen boss battle. It looks like there’s quite a bit going on in the game thanks to its “side stories” feature, which includes gameplay twists like waterskiing and cyberpunk chase sequences. Split Fiction launches pretty soon, hitting PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on March 6th.

Blumhouse is just making horror movies about regular consumer tech at this point.

As inspired as some of Blumhouse’s past horror features about deranged machines have been, Drop from writer / director Christopher Landon’s (Happy Death Day, Heart Eyes) really just kinda seems like it’s going to be about a serial killer menacing their victims via AirDrop. The movie’s out April 11th.

Knives out.

It looks like there will be plenty of conflict in the next season of Yellowjackets, with all kinds of bloodshed spanning both time periods. It’s been a bit of a wait — season 2 premiered in 2023 — but the show is back on February 14th.

The waiting is the only part.

I’ve been, uh, waiting for this game ever since seeing at Day of the Devs last year, and now While Waiting finally has a release date: it’s hitting the Switch and Steam on February 5th.

Sony’s Until Dawn movie wants to channel game’s “dust yourself off and try again” energy.

It remains to be seen what director David F. Sandberg’s Until Dawn movie adaptation will do to set itself apart from time looping slashers, but in this new featurette, he breaks down how expanding on the game’s universe was one of his bigger goals.

The (vampire) revolution will be televised.

While Richter Belmont and his allies absolutely dogwalked Erzsebet Báthory last time they fought, the vampire messiah looks like she’s coming back with a vengeance in the latest trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne’s upcoming second season.

A sci-fi world to get lost in.

I know we’re all thinking about the Switch 2, but Nintendo isn’t quite done with its current console. The company just released a new trailer for the Switch remaster of Xenoblade Chronicles X, a sprawling open world RPG that I loved when it originally hit the Wii U. The new version launches on March 20th.

Hello Kitty’s best rabbit friends are getting their own Netflix show.

Rabbits My Melody and Kuromi have been fixtures in Hello Kitty’s life for a few decades now, and today Netflix and Sanrio announced that the pair are set to be the stars of their own stop-motion animated series due out some time this July.

George Romero’s Resident Evil has risen from the grave (as a documentary.)

Unfortunately, we’ll never fully know what kind of Resident Evil movie George Romero could have made if talks about his proposed adaptation hadn’t collapsed in the late 90s. But George Romero’s Resident Evil — Brandon Salisbury’s new documentary about the failed project — is a deep dive into what could have been.

The documentary is now available to rent or buy on Amazon and Apple TV.

This is how you make a Wolf Man.

Everyone is still a bit mesmerized by the horrific beauty of Count Orlok in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, but this new behind-the-scenes look at Universal’s Wolf Man makes it seem like there might be another monster folks are thirsting for when the movie hits theaters on January 17th.

Welcome to the Electric State.

Netflix has released another trailer for The Electric State, a live-action film that looks like a slightly goofier take on artist Simon Stålenhag’s retrofuturistic book. This time the clip dives deep into the robot war that created its post-apocalyptic future. Directed by the Russo brothers, the movie starts streaming on March 14th.

The third season of the HBO series starts streaming on February 16th, and will shift the setting to Thailand. It also introduces a whole new cast including the likes of Leslie Bibb and Walton Goggins.

It’s an announcement. It’s a trailer. It’s an announcement about the Superman trailer.

In a sensible world, studios would just post trailers rather than appointment viewing events that need grand proclamations about their imminent arrival. But we live here and DC Studios wants you to know that the trailer for James Gunn’s Superman is dropping this Thursday.
